But don't disreguard other people's facts whenever your high horse hypocrite ass feels like it.

Newsflash, pal. This is 2005, not 1964. If you want to live in misery in the past, then so be it... but let the rest of us move on. I could really give a flying sh1t about 1964. I'm talking about things happening NOW, and the fact that racism was a part of life in 1964 certainly does not make me a hypocrite for pointing out that people like West jump at the first opportunity to playy The Card.

Agreed, their financial status is why they were behind (not left behind, just behind), they could not just pack up and go north and move into a motel 6, they were too broke to do it.
It didn't help that the mayor didn't evacute the city prior to the hurricane hitting as FEMA instructed him to. Those poor people could have gotten a free ride.

Are you basically telling me that these people are being left for dead because they ARE black, or are you just clamoring for attention???

It's not even so much the fact that the people are being left for dead...
When you have events like have a shuttle full of people who were stranded at a hotel (who were primarily caucasian) brought to the front of a line full of other people (who were mostly black) waiting to evacuate the city without having to wait like everyone else, you can't help but think of it as an issue of class/race, on at least some level.

While i don't necessarily agree with the way Kanye West said what he had to say--because now, people will focus on the fact that he's a 'rapper' rather than looking at why he said that--i do feel that dude wasn't just making the comment to get attention, even with as much of an attention whore as he is. When you look at situations like this--where the governor in fact asked the president for help days before the storm actually hit, but help didn't arrive until days after the fact--one has to wonder why.

Stop it... there's no room for such propaganda in this thread!

WTF are you talking about?

I live in N.O., and the evacuation order came BEFORE Katrina hit.

EDIT: And even if one didn't live in N.O., since i know that isn't exactly proof enough to just say that i saw firsthand what was going on, it was all over local news about how the contraflow plan--which is used when in cases of evacuation--worked better this time than last year, etc.

Weak.

No buttons were pushed, you are just trying to make it look like I'm angry when infact you are still pissed over you telling me to stop "Talking" when all I was doing was typing 🙂

I know it's not 1964, I'm not living in the past either, but the facts were not correct from the previous poster, if you prefer non-facts thats fine, we will just stick you in the fiction section.

Why in the hell would you live some place that has a history of hurricanes and not have the ability to leave at a moment's notice? Especially in New Orleans?
The mayor/governor should have had a plan in place to help those people who could not get themselves out. It is not the federal government's job or place to do so, and if Bush had sent troops in there to do so as I've heard some say, he'd have been taken to task (and rightfully so) for trampling on state's rights.
I about vomited last night when my wife and I were watching Oprah. How is that pathetic excuse for a human being Mayor Nagin going to get on there and bemoan the conditions in the Superdome, when he's the one who told them to go there?????? His ridiculous excuse that people should bring their own supplies etc. doesn't fly. He's the mayor; you don't tell people to go to a place like that if you can't provide for them. That just sets up exactly what happened in the Superdome, and it's all his fault.
Now, as for the slow federal response AFTER the damage was done by the Mayor and Governor, that's another story. I don't think its racially motivated, more like incompetency motivated. Unfortunately their incompetency just magnified an already out of control situation by taking so long to respond.

It WAS weak... you obviously don't know what a hypocrite is and for some reason you think 1964 has some bearing on current events.

I simply stated that the race card was getting too much play and I cited an example when someone said it hadn't even been brought into the picture yet. You came at me for that by calling me a hypocrite. How that makes me a hypocrite I have no freaking idea, so please enlighten me. Quote my hypocrisy.

Do you even know what a hypocrite is? Why the heck did you bring up 1964? What does 1964 have to do with me, hypocricy, Katrina, or the price of tea in China?

I don't have an answer for that, the best answer would come from someone who was in that situation.

Given how poor they are I can somewhat understand it's hard to just pack up and move.. especially since most of them have never been further then 3 miles from their home if that.

But then again we have rich people who live next to active volcano's in Hawaii and in earthquake area's that give zero warning in Cali also.

LOL, you really are an ignorant bufoon. Are you going to sit here and say that segregation in the 60's and 70's has had no impact on the current state of race relations?

That's precious... Mr. "No one is playing the race card!!!! Show me teh proof!" is calling me an ignorant bufFoon. Hell, if you're going to insult me, do it properly. Typos are par for the course, but if you're going to essentially call someone "stupid", you should probably spell "stupid" correctly. Just a piece of advice.

Anywho, we're going on about 40 years post-segregation, plus or minus depending on your area of the country... do you honestly think that comments like "Bush doesn't care about blacks" are even remotely appropriate or truthful? If you ever want to see racism a true issue of the past, people like you need to stop taking their moral direction from people who make comments like "they're not being helped because they're black".

THAT'S ignorant. THAT'S racist. THAT'S counter-productive.

Yeah, I'm just a predjudiced white guy who orchestrated a cat 5 to rid the US of blacks.

Well you got your proof 🙂

So much anger young paduan, you really need to get a grip and relax. I never said his comments were justified, as a matter of fact I think they were idiotic. Do you understand?
You on the other hand are acting like an uptight child, pouting about how all these racist black people are out to disrupt the world and damage your narrow minded mentalty.

I think its funny that the vast majority of people talking about the race-card in real life and online are white.

Minorities seem to be pretty disgusted with you people and the government and I'll believe them over you since they are actually effected.

Regardless, you must have had proof long before that, since you called me a hypocrite way back on page 1. Still waiting for quoted text.

But really, gotta run... we'll pick this back up tomorrow... slow work week and all 😉 .

Are you three related somehow... perhaps via a cousin?
