This is ridiculous. Really? This is what the fuck is going on? I really really really hate hippies. Fuck the fact global warming is basically bunk(yes i realize it is warmer now than 100 or 200 years ago, that doesn't mean jack shit) and have had to put up with all this "go green" non sense(btw I am all for cutting down pollution, but this shove it down your throat shit gogogo without a plan crap is dumb).

So which is it hippies, do you want clean renewable energy OR do you want to save all the cute little animals? You can't have both, pick one. Something has to give for something new to rise, that's how fucking everything works. Hell even in physics, for every action there is an equal or opposite reaction. You can't change that shit. The choice is yours.

Nope sorry, that's not going to work. You have to pick one or the other because I'm fucking sick and tired of seeing some stupid animal get in the way of shit that needs to be done. You've obviously never experienced it, I have first hand while working on a site to build a new dehydration plant for natural gas that was cleaner. Fox gets in the pipe, whole pipe is dead and is not it's natural habitat. You have to fucking pick one or the other because this is getting ridiculous.

So, you feel that Wildlands has no standing in this dispute despite the fact that they gifted the land to the government with clear assurances as to its future use? How do you justify that?

Don't care, one President said it would be protected, the next said nope. Shit like that happens all the time sorry. They donated the land to the Interior Department and when Bush was in office he said they could build a solar power farm on it now they're up in arms cause of the animals! I don't really care, pick one renewable energy or animals. Personally I'd rather have the solar panels.

There are not a lot of details in the article... can't really draw any conclusions from this.

Sorry, but my personal ethics include the idea that promises are also obligations. I expect no less from my government.

Again, that was a promise made by 1 politican, his successor decided otherwise. This has always happened. Also, you realize by your "personal ethics" our "Government" promised us things before we were even around now that they are constantly infringing on, like the fact the president can even promise to protect such land from enterprise.

No, you really don't. Just quit trying to develop in conservation areas. Personally I have no interest in desert conservation, because I think the desert sucks. But, rather than weaken overall conservation, I'd rather just tell business to shove it up their ass. Pick some place else.

But if we absolutely HAD to ever choose, I'll take animals. Every time.

You really think they can just pick somewhere else? You really need to look up these habitat protection laws and what not. No matter where they go try to build there is going to be some stupid thing that gets in the way. Eventually they're going to have to choose one they can do without.

Rrr... grr... we should be able to build things where ever we damn well please

If the land was given to the government for the purpose of conservation, then it should remain that way. If it was given with no strings attached in the gift, the government should be able to do what it thinks is best for the area, considering all - the balance between human and nature.

I'm not against conservation, but at some point is has to give way.

You are filled with a terrible poisonus hate. Start with your own pollution.

Your analogy between physics and human morality is of boggling idiocy.

You should seek help for that false-choice fallacy of yours ...

I say we take everything dear to Bfdd and sell it to a socialist hippy coalition of snakes and scorpions who then lease it back to him at current market rates, plus a substantial handling fee. That would be the best choice. Everyone knows this.

Right on! I've been advocating grinding up baby seals for fuel for years. They are more than 65% fat/oil, plus they are gay and stupid animals.

Keep fuckin that chicken bfdd!

Oy vey. This thread fails on so many levels. 1) You fail at understanding modern climatological science. You claim that GW is bunk, but the scientific consensus is there. 2) It is not either/or when it comes to wildlife and development. If a fox crawls in a pipe, it is easy to relocate the fox, duh. (provided the land had been approved for development in the first place - a lot of contractors simply ignore conservation laws and develop anyway) The only person who wants to create such a choice is the OP, whose thoughts put him in the realm of the villains of the Captain Planet cartoon.

OP, your ridiculously simplistic hate screed complete with the repetitive misuse of the term "hippies" is just not groovy.

We tried to tell you the brown tabs were cut with speed, but, nooooooooooo, you had to take two.

OK, Lets pretend there is not a land rush in the west for solar and wind projects (BLM and Forest Service are working through applications that would cover 2.3 million acres in the Western US, this 5000 acre project is a drop in the bucket). There are more than 100 projects, mostly solar, in that area of the Mojave alone, including a 4000 acre site just East of the Ivanpah plant that was just dropped.

For instance, there are 250,000 abandoned mines in the Western US alone. EPA Brownfields (polluted land) are another source of potential lands. (There are a number of abandoned Wind Farms surrounding the Mojave as well.)

Far from being ridiculous as the OP suggests, it makes no sense to give away undeveloped public lands when there are PLENTY of alternative sites available. Undeveloped, sensitive areas should be held out untill there are no other lands available.
