Ok, here's my frickin problem...

I wanna do a dual OS with Windows ME. So here's what i did:

I loaded up the Win2k CD, hit clean install, and it copied the necessary files for installation, then restarted to dos, and went into setup, the whole 9 yards. then it tells me which disk to install to, do i pick my C: drive, my mail drive since it is within the first 8GB. Now, it gets to checking the disks and says "Drive C: is corrupt and cannot be repaired. Seup will now Exit" so i exit and restart, doing a "sys c:" command from the Me boot disk to recover my boot record.

So i formatted, and tried installing it clean slate, no Partition MAgic, nothing. I installed Windows 98, then tried doing a clean install from there. i had installed nothing else except for 98 and my mobo drivers. and i got the same error. So i tried upgrading 98 to win2k, and still the same problem. it just says it is corrupt. am i missing something or am i jsut an idiot? Can someone please please help me out. Thanks.

maybe your hd is going bad. if you've tried with different OS's and had the same message, it might be time to get the manufactures software and find out if your drive is going bad.

I have never seen this error before.. do a thorough scandisk from winme.. if the drive checks out something is amiss.. is this a retail copy of Win2k? You may need to wipe the whole disk with a "zero write" formatting utility, then try again.

It's a brand new hard drive, i doubt there is anything wrong with it. Any other suggestions except reformatting. pssst, no it isnt' a etail copy. it was d/led 🙁

Well who knows what kind of garbage is on a downloaded warez copy.. get an OEM copy or something that you know works.

You can post a want to buy thread on the forsale forum too.. I trade there a lot..

THere are a lot of NFR (not for resale) copies floating around that you can trade for or get free.

Id say if win98 installs with no problem it has to be that software .. other wise Win98 would have the same problem
