Right now these are on my list
Taisol 742092 or 762092 with stock fan
Alpha PEP66T with 60mm X 10mm delta 21 cfm fan
Alpha PAL6035 with quiet Sanyo Denki
GlobalWin wbk38 with quiet 80mm fan on it.

I would love to know which is the best option for cooling/low noise. Please help.
Oh If I've missed any, please feel free to add them.

I've heard that ThermoSonic's ThermoEngine is a good performer and is pretty quiet with it's stock fan (16.3CFM, 35.7dBa, 5100rpm). You can find it for about $30.

Thermosonic with stock fan is baaaad...

Also, the thermoengine's that are for sale are very significantely different from the review models, moreso than just being handpicked...

The best-quiet HSF for t-birds? The Taisol CGK760092.

Ok, the Taisol models are very confusing. What on earth is the difference between the 742092, the 76092 and all those other ones on their page. I especially do not understand the diff. between the two that AMD recommends for an Tbird 1.33ghz.

Are Taisol's good for overclocking? I don't think the 742092 has a mirror finish and I'd rather not have to lap it and all. Does the 762092 have a mirror finish?

If you are not going to overclock your cpu, and If you buy a retail box T-bird, seems to me that the stock HSF will do just fine... 😉

Taisol 760092 is newer with copper insert in the base.
Here is my result with stock fan:

ambient: 20C
system: 26C
idle: 26-27C
full: 48C

Notes:
This is on Abit KT7A and Athlon 1.4G 1.78v and I do have good cooling for my case (1 intake 92mm, 1 slot exhaust, 1 exhaust 80mm). If I replace the fan to delta the temp will go down to 43C.

No doubt when you consider the models you have listed. The only choice is Taisol w/ stock fan if you want to hear yourself think!

I just ordered a Noise Control Silverado. I just don't know if I can handle the 2-4 weeks it could take to get here. This HSF is highly recommended by Tom's Hardware. I hope it lets me OC my new 1.33 Athlon🙂 I'm looking to 1.5GHz...

the alpha pep66t with the same fan as that on the Taisol (slim 60mm delta 21 cfm) is better than the taisol 76092 or so I've heard.

Can someone please explain to me what the difference between the 76092 and the 747092 is? Please check http://www.taisol.com Only two of the hsf are recommended by AMD.

The Taisol CGK742092 is a forged aluminum heatsink. The 760092 is the same thing, but with a copper insert at the base.

I've heard good things about the thermaltake volcano II, duo462-7. I've seen it as low as 7.95 about 15.00 shipped. But I don't know how quiet it is 31.5dba. That's louder than others but not unbearable. It'll push 36cfm.

No, the performance of everflow fan which come with Volcano II is on par with other 23-26cfm fans. I think it's misprinted 26 to 36.
