reason is because the master hdd has residual malware where I can't turn restore on

All I need to do is download windows(free or not?) I have a code for my non functional laptop and maybe I can use that

Any programs that would let me to do this easier? cost free

I don't need a cd or usb cause I'm doing it from the master correct?

Then in bios change the boot option to the ssd

what should I get?

Laptops usually have restore partitions / disks. Is that not available ?
Best thing to do is use that, THEN clone over the HD to SSD, and use a program that is SSD aware, so it can align it correctly.

You haven't even told us what version of Windows you have a code for, and you expect us to give you specific instructions? Troll...

Edit: Just download and burn a Windows ISO to a DVD. Boot off of that DVD. Install the key that you have. Profit!

No, you need to burn a DVD, or use Microsoft's "ISO Tool" to install the ISO onto an installation USB drive. You can't use use the ISO on one HDD to install it to another.

It seems you don't understand what an ISO file is. It needs to be converted and expanded to actionable files. What Larry says is spot on. You need to use the MS ISO Tool to do the conversion and expansion onto your thumb drive. You can't boot to the ISO file.
