I have uninstalled and reinstalled and deleted all my counterstrike files through my registry and i cant connect to a server. Every time I try it kicks me out to the desktop without an error or anything. Just out of the blue blam! I dont get it. Can someone help me? I would really appreciate it...

Do any other games run for you?

Here is a simple test: Setup cs to run in window mode. Might sound odd but might also work as it eliminates resolution switches while the game is loading / etc.

Make sure you have the latest version as well. Try another game, I don't see how this could be a ram problem. More like a video card problem.

If you are overclocking, crank er back down cause Counter-Strike is the ultimate system checker for hotroders IMHO.

it's one of the, if not most popular online games actually, with 10,000 servers around the world

Ok. Fresh clean install of win xp proved to not be the problem. I wouldnt think it would be video card... It is a brand new ati 8500 le with 3.3ns ram on it... all of my software is oem. I now have different ram too. I just went and bought brand new ram thinking that was the problem. I am also having some glitchy stuff with my dvd rom drive and my rounded cables right now. I am going to work them out first then get back to trying...

I just installed counterstrike again after a full delete ( i think) and reinstalled it using all the patches needed. It is still doing it. I am really starting to wonder if ati has a problem with this game. I am using the ati fix file also. I just dont understand it. It just kicks me out without any errors or nothing. How can i trouble shoot this problem? It plays battlefield 1942 no problem. I will try hitman 2 also. Help please

Umm does it run in single player? If so then do you have a legal copy of CS and have you given anyone else your cd key? If HL does run then its most likely your wonid has either been disabled (some have by won.net) or someone else is using it. But it should give you the message in console. Make sure console is enabled and watch it while its trying to connect. BTW you might wanna look at another program for connecting to servers such as gamespy.

After further research I think i found the problem. It is a hardware issue that revolves around my dvd rom. I was loading some of the stuff off of it and after removing it from my system I reloaded xp and everything and stress tested last night all night. I will be trying counterstrike today to see if it works now. The dvd rom drive is still out of the system at this time. I think i may have resolved the problem. Thanks
