Ok explain why a 3ghz C temps go up 6c with HT turned OFF.

Was ripping some MP3's and noticed my HT was only ultizing 100% of 1 of the columes so I decided to disable the HT to see if it would speed it up. I didn't notice much but my temps even just idling were 6c higher. This was yesterday, today (5mins ago)I was still running HT disabled and running 50c idle, then rebooted ,enabled HT and now at 44c. Weird, any ideas?

Best guess, sience the part of the CPU thats handling the HT isn't running, any system processes that were possibly running there are now running on the main processor core. More processes in smaller area of chip = higher heat, thats just a guess.

same guess here... it would seem that when you turned off HT, the amount of work is now focused on ONE cpu(since HT is somehow the same to dual-cpu setups) instead of being divided, so its now doin a whole lot of work that made it hotter
