I can never remember which side the forks and knifes are supposed to go on. Anyway every time we have a family get together I'm the one who sets up the table, (and do about 1/2 the cooking too). What would to recommend to make this better, or would you say it looks good now?

When we have family over, you get your own damn plate out of the cupboard.

That looks good. Forks on the left and knives on the right. Salad fork on the outside and dinner fork on the inside. Always eat outside in, as far as the way the forks are laid out.

Table cloth must be changed immediately

It looks like you stole a fat lumberjacks shirt and threw it on your table

But I guess you ARE in canada so maybe that's what's expected ;)

Meh not my idea, mother insisted on that table cloth. Though it is sort of Holiday colours.

Candle holders are too fufu, obstructing the view of persons across the table, inhibiting conversation, and also get in way of the dishes. Also, where will the wax end up if you light the candles?

I was raised to believe that the spoon should be outside the knife but that may be local custom and I wouldn't refuse your hospitality based on this.

Edit: WTH are you trying to pull here!!!! The napkin rings, the GD napkin rings, they don't match! FOR SHAME!!!!

Edit edit: Are you celebrating NCOD or something?

Good question. If they're having cake, they need a dessert fork instead of a spoon above the plate as well ;)

Unless they are having cookies and milk for dessert ;D or Pudding...yeah Pudding.

Do we get to make suggestions for your meal??

What is this a chick thread?

Real men do not get involved with setting the table, picking out drapes etc... Those are all womens chores.

Are you Felix Unger?

Grow a pair.

You can tell the children who've never had a family, wife or a long term relationship.

This is pretty close to what I learned growing up. I remember there being more forks and another plate.

shouldn't your mom be worried about the arrangements then?

With only a 4 piece setting, you really can't do much more.

I think it's missing the glass. The glass that holds the beer, unless you'll just be using the cans/bottles.
