Intel Pentium 3 700E @933/133 CPU
Asus P3V4X motherboard
Hercules 3D Prophet II 64MB video card
IBM 75GXP 30GB hard drive
Mushkin with Siemens Infineon PC133 128MB memory
Sound Blaster Live! X-Gamer sound card
Fong Kai FK-603 case
Samsung 900NF 19" monitor
Pioneer 105S 16x DVD-ROM
Soundworks Digital speakers
Netgear FA310TX network card
Teac floppy drive
NEC Zip100 drive

Question 1: What is the best way to make sure I get a CPU that is overclockable to 933 and has the right stepping thing?

Question 2: Is the VIA motherboard OK since I need to get this system now and can't wait for 815 availability?

Question 3: Is there a GeForce2 GTS 64MB card that is better than the Hercules that is available now?

Question 4: Mushkin offers a lot of different memory, which 128MB stick should I get for this configuration?

Question 5: Does another removable storage solution other than Zip100 offer anything really worth the extra money for storing files too big for a floppy?

Thanks again!

The two fastest GTS cards are the Ourtageous MM GTS and the Creative GTS.

To ensure you get an OCable chip buy a pre-tested one from pcnut.

Unless you know that you will be using the zip drive,ie transferring files from work and back, its probably a waste. Burners and cdrs are becoming more affordable and are pretty much standared equipment on any mid range system.

Upgrade DVD-ROM to Pioneer 115.
It just received 'kickass' award from MaximumPC mag.

Might wanna think about getting a Radeon 64 meg DDR instead of the Geforce 2. From all the reviews ive read the Radeon beats the Geforce 2 at 32 bit color with higher resolutions. Not to mention the fact that the Radeon has amazing DVD support. Just something else for you to think about :)

I consider that a downgrade :)

stick with Pioneer 105 slot drive, it runs cooler and
you can mount it horizontally or vertically.

Get a better speaker (4.1), like Creative FPS2000 Digital
(only $120 i think).

Get Mushkin with Mosel Vital Rev 2, it can ran
at least 150+ cas 2 (I'm sure the Siemens Infineon
is great, but this one is the best of the best).

There are Elsa Gladiac 64MB, and Asus V7700 64MB if
you want more options on the graphics card.

edit : oh btw, you need to make sure you
get a new stepping for the 700e, get one with cb0 stepping,
most processor from Onvia is cb0 (at least the one
from PA).

I stand corrected. :)

On top of what you said 105S has digital output while 115 only has regular 4-pin.
