ok i need a little help, i know the answer is probably very easy, but i'm a newbie when it comes to network stuff and the like. i just bought a linksys router, and it works great and everything, but i can't seem to connect to IRC, it seems to get stuck on the identid part, which is supposed to be port 113 or whatever, how do i get it to work? i haven't tried my counterstrike yet, but someone told me about DMZ or something like that, do i have to enable this? thx in advance.

in the router go to forwarding and forward port 113 to your computer and then it should work.

If it cant connect to port 113 you arent running identd or you did not forward it properly. Forward port 113 to the ip address you assigned to your pc.

There is a nother way as well...

Go into your IRC client config, change the Ident settings to your EXTERNAL ip#.
The client is receiving the request and then it is trying to pass out your 192.168.*.* whihc wont happen.

This trick works for me....

Look at this pic for how to do it..

In the router setup web interface, look at the DHCP clients table and see which one is your computer, note the IP address that it has assigned it (probably 192.168.1.10x). Now go to the port forwarding section and set up port 113 using the last number from the IP address.
