Ok my laptop just died and i need a new pc. Its gonna be used for a little mix of everything , internet, regular word processing etc, no photoshop or movie making, but definatly some gaming (cs source, mabey wow). I need something that will handle all of that well and be a good enough gaming rig at the same time, my price max is 1000.

Ive usually bought systems premade from dell etc so i dont know anything abt an adequete power supply, case or the "correct" motherboard.
I am using theAMD x2 configurator at ibuypower.com

Processor: AMD x2 3800 ...this is still the "it" processor rite? it should be able to handle the basic stuff i wanna do in addition to gaming correct?

Hard drive: [Special !!!] 200 GB HARD DRIVE [Serial-ATA-II, 3Gb, 7200 RPM, 8M Cache]

memory:
1024 MB [512MB X2] DDR-400 PC3200 Memory Module Corsair-Value or Major Brand

Graphics: I want something about equal to a nvidia 6800, something slightly weaker is fine as is something a lil bit stronger that will not raise the price too much...i am thinknig abt either a
nvidia geforce 6800xt OR 6800gs..
the gs is about 70 bucks more..is it worth it?

cd-rw/dvd-rw
16X Dual Format/Double Layer DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive

sound:
3D Premium Surround Sound Onboard with a 600W PMPO 3 PCS Super Bass Subwoofer Speaker System
not very important

monitor-ViewSonic 17" Q7B TFT LCD Monitor
is this monitor worth 235?

i have NO clue regarding case, power supply or motherboard, please just recommend something that will work fine in regards to what i need it for, while keeping PRICE in consideration

the trinity is a nice case. The Antec P180 is proven and quiet.
The antec does not come with a psu in case price is improtant.
Raidmax isnt realyl all that impressive.

Asus is top notch, buy what you need, no more on less. The premium asus a8n sli makes for a quieter case since it hasa passive northbridge instead of a fan cooled northbridge. The normal sli should be fine though. The 6800gs is worth it.

for monitors, a good crt beats the best lcd any day image quality and resolution scaling wise. If you arent worried about that and need the space, a viewsonic is pretty good. Not a expert with that particular model though.
