I don't want to sound unsympathetic to your sons pain, but Diabetes isn't the "end all" your making it out to be.

Yes, she has to check her blood often, yes, she has to monitor her food, yes, she CAN get drunk... There is care within reason..rather than complain about the horrid pain, unfairness, and suffering, why don't you focus on managing his condition?

You realize that within there next, oh, lets say 10 years, there will probably be a cure for it...Medical Technology is exponential. If not Stem Cell then at least a transplant is in order.

Hello Gulzakar, and thank you for the bump.

I understand that you saw how your friend treated her diabetes and that is a good thing. The bad thing about diabetes is there are a thousand small things you have to do to make sure you stay healthy. I am very much focused on managing his diabetes, but I also think that people need to be aware of how prevelant it is becoming.

As for your prediction of a cure within the next ten years, I have to beg to differ. I can supply you with some really great material on the latest diabetes research. No one knows how soon a cure will be found. All we do know is that we need more people doing research, and that research costs money. With the astounding number of people dying from complications of diabetes every day, it is fair to say that the more funding for research we raise, we will directly be saving people's lives.

Thanks once again for everything you all have done. You people are amazing.

Please explain why you locked my thread. These are real world pics of my son. He needs all the help he can get. What do you have against him?

EDIT: thank you all so much. I am seriously speachless.

Another thank you to everyone. Donations of any size are very much welcome. If you live outside the US and would like to donate, feel free to PM me and I will send you my address. I can bring those donations to the walk with us.

If you don't have the means to donate, bumps are appreciated.

rudeguy,

The link in your sig would probably be more effective if the title named the fund, instead of pleading for help for your son. For example, it could say something like:
Support the Walk To Cure Diabetes. Thanks from me, my diabetic son and thousands of other afflicted children.
This is just an example. You can use your own words. It will appear in all of your posts and will probably get far better results than a sticky thread where the title and the text are not immediately clear about the real subject.

We wish the best for you and your son and for the Walk For Diabetes.

wow, lots of $$$ so far. lookin at the pics at your kid, he doesnt look that bad. pump site looks good, fingers looks good too, cept for the marks on his arm, be careful for scartissue, that is a pain to get rid of.
I know how hard it is for Kids/teens/people with diabetes, being diabetic my self and a counslor at a Diabetic Summer camp for Kids/teens, its hard for the kids, but testing your blood and taking insulin isnt that bad :) if anything, the kids deal with it just fine, its the parents that make it out to be this horrible thing, to the kids, its just another thing they deal with. :) www.hodia.com , site to the summer camp, kinda cool for you or your son to check out. WTG in advance for the walk :D

Thanks again everyone.
