<----- has type I, and had a friend die from a low a few months ago (at 23).

I was diagnosed at 16, it must be hell on an 8 year old.

let me guess, no family history of type I or thyroid problems, and an otherwise very healthy kid? that seems to be the skyrocketing segment at the moment.

good going with the pump, they are the best. I wear one as well, but like someone else said it's much easier to insert the sites on my stomach.

thanks to everyone who donated, there are many who appreciate it. I'm in for $10 as well.

we are trying new infusion sites as of today. The docs want us to try a site is comfortable with before we go for the tummy or bottom.

Thank you all so much. If I could ever repay anyone in any way I would.

I'm sorry to hear about that. My GF has Type 1 and it's tough but since your son has a pump, which it looks like he does from pic 3, then he'll be a lot better off than someone with injections. Once you and him both get used to making corrections on the pump it gets much easier after time. One question though, why does he have the pump inserted on his arm? Is this better for small kids or something, because my GF always has it placed around her stomach or abdomen area and she tells me it's better to have it there.

he wont have the site on his tummy or his bum. Its arms and legs only.

You guys really don't know how much this means to myself and Isaiah. We both had a good hug after looking at the JDRF site.

I am debt to you all.

Is there a reason it won't be on his stomach? When it's on the stomach it absorbs better and controls the blood sugar level better. I'm guessing his diabetic educator recommended this way for some reason though?

EDIT: NM I just read your reply above this one. :)

It absorbs faster there for sure. But some diabetics have a lot more pain there than any other injection site - perhaps that's why?

he is a skinny kid. He is really did not have enough fat in his tummy before. He wants to stick with these new sets, so we will do that.

Again, thank you all. What the heck can I say?

Just contributed. Good luck to you and your family.

I worked with 60+ year old guy last year who has type 1 but didn't know it until he went into diabetic shock after drinking a bunch of pineapple juice. We all thought he was crazy because of the mood swings he'd go through, but it turns out it was just his untreated diabetes.

Rudeguy, I still laugh when I remember how you f*cked with that chick who was trying to sell her Ford Focus on eBay!

If you're looking for help to pay for something for him, I will help out.

Edit: Just saw your sig, I will donate soon. If someone is willing to take paypal and make a donation, I would appreciate it if you could drop me a PM.

I don't see the problem with the sig. I am usually with the mods, but Jesus H. Christ.....we have had raffles here to help people, and even took up a collection that was stickied at the top a few years ago so one down-on-his-luck member could get a new video card.

This is as worthwhile a cause as I've ever seen on here.

haha, that was a great thread. I did my share of fscking with her, too. :D

She was bi-sexual, and I had her convinced my girlfriend wanted to get with her.

I was going to get her to take ... compromising.. pictures of herself, so I could post them.. but someone told her about the thread or something, so she got mad at me..

She told me that her dad was a cop and that I was going to jail..

LOL!!! Good times. I gotta find that sh!t. The thread title was stupid though... hmmm.

Count me in!

Mods, cut the guy some slack - It's for a great cause and isn't hurting anything. I've seen a whole boatload of useless "Check out this site where the guy wants $20K or the rabbit DIES!" that didn't get locked or deleted. ATOT is, believe it or not, a very powerful thing. Let's use it to help out a well-respected member do a very good thing for his family and for the world.
