Omitting the crucial comma after "letters" in you first sentence completely alters the meaning of "yet is also made up of 3" from what you need it to be for your riddle to make sense.

Without the delimiting comma, "yet is also made up of 3" must refer to the word "what" that begins that sentence.

Had it appeared on the ACT as written, you and everyone else in this thread who thinks they interpreted the OP correctly would have been wrong.

Would you have whined about Grammar Nazis then, or would you have taken the lesson to heart and learned something about how to read the English language? 😉
