So here we are, 7 days after the X1000 series launch.

A smattering of X1800XLs. No X1300s. No X1600s. No XTs (at least they admitted it).

Where the hell are the cards? That's all I want to know. Red said full availability at launch. Where are they?

They said the XT's would be out in November.

However, they did not say what year.

No mention of the Xfire Motherboards either.

If you read the yesterday's article from Wesley:
http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2562

you will be able to understand that the Crossfire motherboards are not delayed due to ATI's decision but because of the OEM's decision to use the ULI 1575 southbridge.
It was a last minute change (motherboard makers, not ATI's) and had impact on the ramp up of the new motherboards.

Wesley said in the article that the mainboards should start to show up next week.

But you can still blame ATI for making a crap southbridge that nobody wants to use.

I know they're saying november. They also said "hard launch" when they launched them.

They've said a lot of things. I am not trusting ATi press releases any more, for good reason.

They came clean and said that the XTs and the 1600s wouldn't be out till november, they did say it would be a hard launch and it was with the XLs they're out and a couple forum members have them already, although the XTs arn't here yet I atleast give ATI credit for telling us upfront they wouldn't be available, although it would have been better to have them out now and save all this trouble.

How many X1800XL's have been shipped & made available to the public to date?
How many X1300 Pro's have been shipped & made available to the public to date?
Does the amount available really amount to a Volume launch?

Those 3 questions are the important ones as both ATI said would be Hard Launched and at Volume too. Both the X1300 Pro & the X1800XL are supposed to be available (as in not Phantom Edition) now.

Not interested in your petty flames, I just want the facts of the situation so we can see how ATI managed the launch.

according to AT's pricing engine 3 etailers have XLs instock (newegg, monarch and allstarshop) and ZZF has them for preorder although getting data about how many have been shipped 3 etailers (including arguably the biggest one (newegg)) thats not bad although it may not be great its not a paper launch. As for X1300s things arn't quite as rosy, AT's pricing engine doesn't have any but I don't see why people keep bringing up the X1300s almost no one who belongs to these forums cares about them so why bother?

Because it tells me exactly how much stock I can put in ATi's PR. NV's PR, just like ATi's, is a bunch of slimeballs, but at least I can give them money for product when they say I can.

People will bring up every little thing ATI talk about or produce until they prove they have changed their ways. They have lost a lot of trust amongst the community and it will take a lot of hard work on their part to make it up to the punters. I'm not bothered either way on the card, as long as it works and doesn't hassle me driver side. Still, it'd be nice if they lived up to their promises on all fronts.

It is not like Santa didn't show up for Christmas.

Unless one suffers from compulsive buying and really cannot cope with anxiety, there is no reason not to wait a couple of days.

On top of that, all kinds of things (CPUs, Videos, Cars, Blenders, etc) have some quality issues that are solved over the first weeks of production. If you are the first buyer, you are getting a 95% OK product. If you wait a couple of weeks, you get a 98% OK product.
Don't believe it? Go work in a consumer industry and experience that first hand.

Last, nobody really knows how are the first XLs overclocking (without caps). Until we can see a review and have the proper tool to do it, it is not a safe buy.

If we were discussing Performance or Overclocking in this particular topic i'd comment on those issues. As it stands we want number of cards available to you, me & everyone else. Also, working for a ISP I know what it's like to work in the IT Industry.

ATi claimed 1800XL & 1300 Pro available now yet there isn't much way of telling how many actually got released to the public to date. I am having a LOT of trouble just finding a X1300 Pro, which will be a popular card amongst budget PC builders.

You were talking about the 1300's, from the post you replied to. Trying to switch now? Hmm.

Nope. You're trying to switch, and misdirect the conversation off of ATi's problems and on to any other target, whether it's a poster or whatever.

We're not talking about specific products here, we're talking about ATi's availability problems in general. Keep the conversation on ATi' and their availability issues.

Fair game topics, just FYI:

- X800 series phantom editions
- MIA X1300s
- X1600s and X1800s that fall into the "oh, when we said hard launch, we meant hard launch a *month* after the paper launch" category
- Late X800 CrossFire cards
- MIA CrossFire Motherboards
- MIA CrossFire X1800 cards
- "hard launch" meaning "availability from 3 vendors".

Once again: Please stay on topic: ATi's availability SNAFUs.

He's got a point-

Ever hear of an assembly line that make 10 cards and stops?

This card (X1800XT) was taped out LAST NOVEMBER so I'm guessing the OEMs have had boards and packaging a few days now?

I don't know why some are so forgiving of yet another paper lauch here? (no offense ddogg- I know they said November- but that's still a paper launch and I don't know if I've ever seen it explained why they only have a couple cards now, even XLs?)

The XLs were not a "hard launch", it took a few days for product, and there are STILL only three vendors advertising them on Pricewatch. I honestly don't think ATI has figured out how to make these things yet, and we may even see another respin before we see them in quantity.
