I've never liked AOL, but this one really takes the cake. Aol is almost like a damn exe virus. It keeps creating icons for free trial memberships and placing them on the desktops accross my network. This is going too far AOL!!! Everytime it does this, my anti virus software picks it up as a virus. I have to keep cleaning it over and over again. This damn thing keeps replicating. It shows as something quazi.exe in notepad. I clean it, completely deleting the file. The next time one of the kids signs on to AOL, suddenly all 4 computers have an AOL free trial icon on the desk top and the damn virus is back. :(
I can't believe they are doing this...taking over like that. I am going to get legal on this one, it's bullsh*t! :|

I don't personally use AOL. It's just that there are a couple members of my family that I can't seem to wean off it. It just so happens they are on my network.

Here is some info on it

This is an Internet worm that also acts as a backdoor. When running, it listens on TCP port 7597 for instructions from a client component. This worm also communicates with the IP address 202.106.185.107 which is physically located somewhere in Asia.
When this trojan is executed, it modifies the registry with this key value:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\
StartIE=C:\WINDOWS\notepad.exe qazwsx.hsq

After the next reboot the worm renames NOTEPAD.EXE in the Windows folder to NOTE.COM and then copies itself to the Windows folder as NOTEPAD.EXE.

When ever the user runs NOTEPAD, the worm is executed and this then runs NOTE.COM.

The worm can use network connections to spread to other machines that allow access to their Windows folders and copies itself as "NOTEPAD.EXE".

One major significance is the real NOTEPAD.EXE is 52Kb while this worm is 120,320 bytes.

Nope, not in Europe, although I went over there and played for about a month last year. ;) I'm just up past my bedtime.....going soon. :)

AOL still must die. Tomorrow, having asked nicely of them to change isp's...I am going to force an issue. I may not be popular, but they are going to learn how to use the internet without the aid of AOHELL. :|

Hi Kenny. I'm good...just trying to get settled in. It was a long move..over a month before we found the right house. We're no longer homeless. :D

one thing you can do it use an ISP.....and AOL BYOA (bring your own access)....costs $9.95 a month instead of $21.95....maybe that would help....?
