only the top article is actualyl filled in....it's almost done, and the ones below are placeholders, but will soon have articles. The magenta areas will be advertisements. Feedback on some of the chosen topics? Any suggestions for more topics?

It's not worth the space until your site becomes big. Unless someone wants to pay you a flat rate to advertise on your site, not dependant on click-throughs or anything, then it really won't be worth it right away. Those ad-sharing programs never really work right. They usually do a good job of getting free advertising out of you until you realize that it took you a full year to make $5.
 
The reason for no ads yet is that you should get a good firm set of people who continually visit and get everything going.

Once you feel satisfied with how the site is, move on to advertising. Don't let things like advertising take your attention away when you start the site. You should be focused on getting good articles or something.

Oh, and as you focus on content, make sure the you're participating in the forum as well. Large forums can bring in tons of visitors and revenue
