amd stock is getting low cause the company is sucking hardcore and people think its going to collapse... yea you can buy it from 4$ a pop and sell for 11$ each when it stabalizes... or. more likely, you can buy it for 4$ a pop and use it as toilet paper when the company finally goes under...

Betting on a dying dog is a BAD thing...

The buy low idea in stock is that when you have a stock collapse and all stocks are undervalued you buy stock in a stable company that is making real profits with their products.

Clearly the bottom fishers went to the same business school as Ruiz. He doesn't understand how his company could be worth 40% less than a few weeks ago either.

Bottom fishing is an artform. It has little to do with looking to the past as Ruiz is doing, and everything with looking to the future. You *MUST* have solid growth prospects to invest. If you're not investing then you're trading, and that's a whole different set of rules.

Actually, I'm not going to buy AMD stock - no matter how low it gets. I plan on setting up some fake, 3rd world hydro-electric projects, and buy carbon offset taxes from big corporations. I figure I can make a mint getting easy cash from all those big, enterprise data farms still running racks of Netburst based Intel Xeons that require an air conditioner in the middle of January in Detroit, and get utterly spanked by a $50 Dual Core AMD processor consuming a fraction the current.

I try to stay neutral on the 'fanboy' side, but I recall not a few yars ago displacing Netburst Xeons (which many Server vendors still pimp) with AMD platforms that cost 1/3 the price, consumed 1/3 the power, and had twice the performance.

Too bad - I guess memories are short..........

Anyone else in for a few shares?

Sell off at $103 😀

AMD stock is undervalued but who knows where the bottom is?? Latest Q-10 showed $188 million operating loss on the cpu side (if I remember correctly). After bungling the Phenom rollout with the TLB errata it could go either way this quarter.

I don't think it will drop as low as you think - that would put the market cap at around $3.9 bil for a company that may well have $6 bil in revs this year with a 'guarded' outlook for 2008.

And I find it funny that disputing the AMD FUD on this Forum earns me a fanboy label, Phynaz.

Psychologists call that 'projection', Phynaz. I call it your personal bias.

Well Revenue don't matter, AMD can make 100 billion in revenue but if they continue their billion dollar net loss like last year, they will go under in no time. AMD price will drop further if the management cannot provide any hard fact to prove AMD can stop bleeding and break even or return to profitability. The management promised lots of things during the analyst meeting just recently, and analysts didn't believe them, that's why there were lots of downgrades on the stock.

AMD stock price will stay low and may very well continue to go lower if there is no positive news. The only way I see any positive news from AMD is:

1. they sell 3850/3870 like a hot cake, come out with a cross-fire on a single board solution with good price/performance ratio and make lots of money off of that too.
2. their 65nm process becomes better and yield more higher speed cpu and bring up the average selling price on their x2 line up.
3. continue to manage their cost structure and reduce inventory and other cost.

I don't see how AMD will benefit from their phenom/barcelona in the short term, they just don't have the volume and the bug and the chip speed just isn't enough for them to be relevant.

The next couple quarterly report will be a good indicator of how AMD does on the above 3 factors, and tell us where the stock is gonna go.

Memories aren't short, none of us is deluded enough to compare things from years past...

For YEARS I told everyone I knew "there is absoltely no reason whatsoever eto buy intel... AMD is faster, cheaper, and more energy and heat efficient"... but that was the PAST...
Nobody here is discussing the athlonXP or athlon64 vs pentium 4... Thats old news, thats two archetictures back, almost three since nehelem will soon arrive.

No, the core2 archetecture annihilates the X2 and the phenom architectures... they are much mroe energy efficient, cheaper (per performance), and generate less heat.

I think there is only one AMD fanboy on this board. First person to correctly guess his name gets props.

There are many.

"Hey"
The "snappy" guy.
