BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Elvis has left the vehicle. A man was arrested on more than 50 traffic citations -- all in one day. Police said Elvis Alonzo Barrett, 46, fled from police trying to stop him for a traffic violation Thursday morning. Police said he ran through red lights, crashed into another car and a fence. Police said they found crack cocaine and a crack pipe in his car.

Barrett faces several charges, including fleeing and eluding and reckless driving.

He was also issued more than 50 traffic citations on charges including speeding, running red lights, and not wearing a seat belt.

Police said Barrett has a lengthy criminal history and his driver license was suspended.

A phone number listed for him was not in service Thursday night.

not that impressive considering he was fleeing from the police.

if you're fleeing from the police, do you really think you're worried about wearing your seatbelt or stopping for traffic lights?

isn't that usually how police pursuits are handled? They mention every time there's a pursuit on TV that someone is keeping track of every single violation committed during the pursuit.

This reminds me of a scenario a good few years ago.

My friend and I almost found ourselves once with probably $3000+ in tickets combined between ourselves for a single 5-minute drive in our own cars.
105mph in a 35 zone. Street racing. Driving to endanger, probably attempted manslaughter. A few other infractions in there too. There was a hill in the road, and right before it, our radar detectors went off. We slowed down to 35mph over the hill and there were 4 cruisers waiting for us. Couldn't pull us over for any infraction. That was a close one. But nothing like 50 infractions in a police pursuit.

I hate shit like this. If I kill someone on the street and leave the body I shouldn't also get a ticket for littering.

Ah hell...I thought you meant 50 different incidents...not 50 separate charges for one incident...

Cops are like that. Someone pulls a stupid stunt like he did, they slam him with 60 gazillion charges, just to keep him busy for a while...

(and I don't disagree with them in cases like this)

I'm sure most of these will get thrown out. The police are just throwing around charges in the hope a few stick.
