Well, if they have an extremely suspect passing defense, why would you run on them?

Why not refute what I said in my last post? Oh, cuz I'm right.

What is there to refute? Your opinion or the stats? There is no refuting a statistic. As far as impact defensive plays well let me start with a game winning TD return last week and a fumble recover leading to a fg that pushed the lead to 10 in the final minutes. Previously it was a end zone INT at the end of the game against Denver that won it. How are those NOT impact plays? Where did you come uop with those "impact" stats?

Umm...they are facts?

Turnover margin, Indy leads the lead with +18. Chargers do well, 3rd with +13.
The Colts' defense has forced 6 more turnovers than the Chargers' so far.

Sacks...Indy is 2nd, only one behind Philly, with 41. Chargers on the other hand, are 29th, with 24.

Tell me again how I was wrong in my statement??
You said impact plays....making INTs in the final minutes of the 4th quarter is an impact play. If you make no INT's all game until the final 2 minutes then your stats wont be as good but they are still impact plays. I dont see how you cant realize that. If you force a turnover then punt, is it an impact play? Have you seen every turnover the colts and bolts made? How many of them turned out to be impact plays? If you can produce those numbers then I will believe the impact play argument you are making. Just to say they have 6 more turnovers in 13 games makes them a more impact defense doesnt seem right to me. Its my opinion.

*sigh*. An interception is an impact play. A sack is an impact play. That is the game of football, statistically. If you want to argue logistics, go ahead, but in 2 weeks the Colts are going to murder them. The only thing SD has over the Colts is the fact that LT is the best HB in the league, but even with that Indy's offense is still way, way better.

Like I said before, the REAL important stat on defense is not yards, its scoring, and the Chargers defense only averages about .5 pts less per game. That's not very much, which you conisder the disparity between their offenses.

Who have Chargers played this year? Btw, didn't the very same Chargers lose to the Colts earlier this year?

Colts. Chargers are having a great year, but their defense is nothing spectacular either, and their offense certainly can't keep up with the Colts'.

#2 rush defense

Get out of here with that sh!t.

#14 overall defense, #30 pass defense, #13 scoring defense.

Their defense is nothing spectacular. Do you think the #30 pass defense is gonna be able to stop Peyton Manning??

who is going to run against a team that is #30 vs the pass?

that #2 rush defense is such a useless stat.
lol #2 is actually #1 now...so it is a useless stat but #30 is a usefull one?

Doh, yes. Teams game planning for Bolts don't run a lot. In average per rush they're only #5, which still not too bad. But honestly, if you're Colts playing Chargers in playoffs - whouldn't you just gameplan for Peyton to throw the ball 50 times? Honestly, I think even Pitsburgh will lose to Colts. The only one who can stop them is NE, just because Bellichick is a genius.

Sadly, even the Pats will have trouble with Indy this year considering how banged up their secondary is. Anyway, it's hard to predict the winner of a matchup based solely on stats, regardless. Those stats will most certainly show some trends, but defensive stats are often skewed. Would Indy's defense allow so many yards and points if their offense wasn't so good? Would SD's secondary look so bad if their run D wasn't so good? All these are tough to say, but having seen Indy play several times this year, I can say that they can score at will against even the best defenses in the league. SD has a shot if they try to play ball control with LT and limit Indy's possession time. If it becomes a shootout, Indy will win every time. On any given pass play, they go at least five legitimate receivers deep (Harrison, Wayne, Stokley, James and Clark/Pollard, yes I'm counting RB and TE as in Indy those guys are as good as many teams' #2 WR in yardage/scoring in the passing offense). There aren't enough impact players in the Bolts' D to compensate for that.

colts would win. my logic? san diego teams lose every major, hyped-up game/series. hell, tony gwynn hit a grand freakin' slam in the world series a few years back, they took a 5-2 lead, and they still got swept up by the yankees. niner's obliterated chargers in superbowl 29 after young dumped 6 td passes on them! padres eeked out 1 win in the 84 world series before local san diegan alan trammel blasted 2 homers in game 4 and was named m.v.p. of the series.

edit: keep in mind i am bitter san diego resident who hates watching local teams get to the big dance, lose badly, then fall apart badly over the next few years. i want a major sports title dammit!

You know... I'm a St. Louis Rams fan, and the only reason I am supporting the Chargers is that I'm from Los Angeles, and I absoloutely hate the Oakland Raiders...

My friend is a diehard Colts fan, and it looks to me that the Chargers have a good chance in stopping the Colts in a playoff game. I am seriously seeing the Chargers making it to the AFC Championship game, no joke...

Both are great teams this year. Manning has more weapons. I go with the colts
