ANSWER:

Because the Democrats now control the senate and were gearing up for investigations into Bush's oil comrades.

(yes...sometimes the truth is that simple.:))

<< I heard on the radio some people saying that it was around $1.15 where they lived in different parts of Texas...I'm in Houston and we haven't seen it drop that low yet (we're like $1.40-1.50?), but I'm crossing my fingers! >>

I'm in Dallas and they are just around that range.

1.37 was the lowest I have seen.

Btw, that rookie nfl team of yours is GOING DOWN! :D

DoubleN: Do some more research. There's gas in the 1.2x range in various places in Houston. Jones and 290 comes to mind, for example.

The average price for gas in Corpus Cristi, TX, is $1.13/gal, according to AAA. The average in Houston is $1.38. A lot better than the $1.77 I filled up with a week ago here in the Bay Area! :frown:

A good place to see what everybody is paying.
One of the reasons Canadians pay more is because we only have 3 players nationwide. The lowest overall gas prices are usually in Texas where they alone have 3 big players IE competition.
To think that compnaies don't price colude is nieve especially if they have no immediate competition.
World production is actually increasing not decreasing as many try to say, demand is outstipping production or was :0

We're paying about $1.19 here in San Angelo, TX, though it could have gone down again today (been consistently doing that from day to day).

The average right now is in the $1.20 range where I live (check my profile), but I filled up late last week for $1.05. There was a gas station about a block down the street selling for $1.03 and several others at $1.05 a gallon. The only reason I paid 2 cents more was because the $1.03 station was packed and I didn't feel like waiting. :)

BTW, this was 87 octane (according to the pump sticker), so the gas wasn't some cheap 85 octane crap with 10% ethanol either.
