Oil immersion cooling now available

JTsyo

Lifer
Oil PC

The case looks real nice. Looks like it would be a mess to work on though. Also they probably have a list of components that work well int he oil so upgrading might be a pain. $4K isn't too bad for a first go system.

$4k is too much for that sloppy mess.

The thing still uses 4 fans to cool the oil.
And guess what... The oil will NEVER be cooled below ambient temperature.

The looks of the case is slick. But the $4k oil gimmick is too over the top for anyone but a filthy rich son.
Very good water cooling can be pulled off for 1/5 of that price.

Well the advantage is that when the Oil Spills all the characters in the game slips on it and it is easy to eliminate them.

I doubt that even G-d knows why someone needs something like this. 😉

Edit: Wait a minute I think I know why (and I am No G-d).

To put it together in the museum with the Killer NIC.

Tbh, pricey or not, for the hardware you get it's not even that bad compared to alienware or a dell xps ...

I think I love it, and if I had the money, I'd buy on for myself, and one for Blain, so he's going to curse, but ends up using it anyways, because it does kick ass ... Maybe I'll even buy Blain two, so he doesn't know what to do with the second one 😛

Economically and politically, the timing for this is probably not good. If you can waste $4K on this toy, you are a prime target for Barney Frank. 🙂

I'd use the oil from both and oil my door hinges as well as oil my driveway to keep the dust down.

Their big idea is that oil is so much more heat conductive than air.
They should focus on the best heat conductor... "Diamond"

The sad thing is that the "Geeks" lose control in two seconds and start to drool😉. This is Not technology it is pure business.

The USA is a very big country, and even with the current economical situation there are a lot people with money that they do not know what to do with.

These guys came up with a nice gimmick they probably do not have to sell more than 50 of these inorder to make $100.000 in profit.

So why Not.

well it is engineering a solution, and that takes time and money. saves you the trouble of making a mess of it at home.

Socialism solution is to distribute the Wealth so that every one can afford the Junk.

Sensible approach is to explain why it is useless "Expensive Junk".

We had similar discussion about the Killer NIC, and took some time to calm down reasonable people about the product.
