I use WIX and buy in bulk from www.filter1.com . When I forget to order and run out, I use Puorolator Pure One or NAPA Gold (Wix) . BTW, NAPA does has a 7% ? discount for AAA members .

somepeople don't like the end caps for 1. I have cut some open and not seen any problems but some say they have had problems.
I still like the e-core's and have put close to 10k on one with Syn oil in my LS1 car. I cut it open and it was still good.

But with that said you can go to rockauto and get the pro-tec that has metal endcaps for usually even less then the cost of a wal-mart e-core/supertech. The pro-tecs are made by wix and also sold under the Napa silver name. I bought 6 for my cts(only a filter element so no end caps), 4 for my Truck, a couple for the Vette, and some for my inlaws toyotas. All have worked well.

The only filter I turn my nose up to is Fram. There is no good reason to use them. There are better filters for even less money, so why use it.

Some were of the old design and appear to be made the same as Delco filters. Some of the newer ones appear to be Fram built with cardboard end caps. I don't know if it was a fluke because I haven't found any recently.

Also, their filter media varies in length. In my personal opinion, supertech filters may be composed of "out of spec" filters as their build quality seems to be hit and miss on the many i've cut open. I'm not saying they are BAD, they just may be like a "scratch and dent" that was set aside and painted as a supertech, then sold cheap at walmart.

Usually something above is said..."I am an engineer for Honeywell..."

otherwise you sound like that other guy here talking he understands the banking industry while working in the copy room.

What to you do for Honeywell and does Fram even make an application that would be an option.

also not all Fram's are equal.

I am an engineer for Honeywell, I design bearings and lube systems for jet engines and helicopter turbines. I care about oil quality. You should see what a little piece of junk that gets into a bearing can do when it's spinning 10x faster than a car engine.

Not all Frams are created equally and there as some that do an ok job of filtering but the reliability of some of the valves used are questionable. For the money I'll go with Wix or Napa's nicer one (can't remember the name, Napa Gold or something like that?).

I don't get why people always say "I've had no problems with this or that crappy brand".

Whether you think you've had problems is irrelevant. You could have twice the wear on your engine and have no way of knowing it. It's the same thing with K&N air filters (see sig). People use them and say "I have no problems". Uhh ok, but is "having no problems" reason to willingly put an order of magnitude more dirt into your engine?

We should always do the best for our cars within reason, and that includes paying $2 extra for a good filter.

K&N air filters are horrible, I just got tired of trying to explain it to people. If they want to ruin their car, let em!

Yep The owner of my Vette, before me, put a K&N in it. Well i did not give it much thought. But then started to have some spark knock. So I did all the standard things to check. I almost gave up but then remembred the K&N air filter. I removed it and put in a basic paper filter and cleaned my MAF (Mass AirFlow sensor). With only 50k I did not think it be that bad, but one of the 3 wires was really coated. After that no more knock and runs great.

The only place a K&N even really helps is wide open throttle. So 99% of the time it is just letting in more dirt with no help for performance/gas milage.
