Ohno failed to medal in two events tonight...

Now we can't overtake the Germans in the medal count. The best we can hope for is a tie.

Germany - 12,16,7 = 35
USA - 10,12,11 = 33
Norway - 11,7,4 = 22

Well...it's far and away the US has ever done in the Winter's...I'm still proud of those guys

A tie?

Unless by some fluke the canadian team doesn't show up for the game and they award us both the silver and the gold, we are stuck with second place.

I thought for sure we were a lock for some medal in the 5000m relay, that would've given us a tie.

Little dissapointed, but seeing as our previous high was 13, we're doing pretty darn well.

<< Thanks for letting the country down Ohno.

LOL jk

NONO, it was rusty smith that fell not Ohno, the deficit of time was too much to recover....

I think we need to pull out for the closing ceremonies to show our protest 🙂

Well before the games, most thought we realistically had a chance at 10-15, most in the alpine events. The USOC optimistically said we could win 20. What happens is, our speed skating program came alive, Im not talking short track, Im talking long track, it is by far what lead to the US have a better than expected Olympics, with 8 medals in it. Germany and Nederland have 8 from speed skating as well.

If that didn't happen I would have LOOOOOOVED to see Ohno go against that bleach headed Canadian in the final laps, damn!!!

<< Man, why is Norway below the US when they have one more gold?? >>

I started a thread about that yesterday, and the few people who responded all agreed that the medal count should be tallied according to the total number of medals, not according the number of gold medals. Some people even came up with the idea of a point system. For example, gold is worth 3 points, silver is worth 2 points, and bronze is worth 1 point.
