Hell, I'm just confused how government got all tied up in the issue of marriages in the first place.

Dont you have to pay to get a marriage license?

Agreed. I have already stated my position on this, and am surprised that so many consider this an appropriate role of government.

Cheers!

Well, I assume, but at 32 I've never been married. My girlfriend and I have been living in sin for the past 6 years, purely to spit in the gubment's eye ;) No common law where I live :)

No, but seriously. No religious or governmental institution tells me who I can or cannot love, nor dictates my relationships. That issue I leave entirely up to the woman I love and God. Why people hand over such an important and deeply personal aspect of their lives to human institutions, I will never understand.

Ironic isn't though? Gays are fighting to get married, and here I am, a hetero who could easily get married, not wanting to.

They feel so insecure that they need to gov't to back them up. So pathetic.

What happened to conservatives? Ones that didn't lean on the gov't for protection?

Isn't it great that in 2004 we still don't have to give equal rights to everyone?

OH well the government is discriminating against two men or two women from being married.
Now they join the ranks of the others long discriminated against such as Brother-sister who want to marry and father-daughter and mother-sons and uncle-niece and even cousins in all states but Hawaii. IF they allow two men to be married they would have to allow two brothers to marry then they would have to allow brother and sister to marry also since that would be discrimination .The government has chosen to not sanction sexual perversion.

Difference is, I don't think government should have anything to do with who is "married". As a liberal, I believe God can sort out the spiritual union, and law should be equal without regard to race, age, sex, ethnic background, etc. so for that reason, on legal issues such as rights of survivorship and parental custody, gays are excluded from fair and equal treatment. To that end, if they want to live in what they consider a "marrige" sanctioned and blessed by God, then so be it.

The homophobic right wing clusterphuques can kiss me rear end if they disagree.;)

How am I liberal? I think you need to brush up on your politics. I'm assuming you think I'm liberal from your interpretation of my previous posts. Can you say libertarian? Let's spell it out. Take it slow, don't force it. L-I-B-E-R-T-A-R-I-A-N.

There's your lesson of the day. Enjoy.

L-I-B-E-R-T-A-R-I-A-N. = person who double posts? \

Seriously though. The differences between liberal and L-I-B-E-R-T-A-R-I-A-N seem only to be that L-I-B-E-R-T-A-R-I-A-N.'s choose to throw away thier vote on third party candidates that never have a chance.

Taft, a Republican, denied assertions that the law promotes intolerance. He said the new law would send a strong positive message to children and families.
Yep . . . gays are bad.

"Marriage is an essential building block of our society, an institution we must reaffirm," he said.
No wonder our country is in the pooper . . . all these divorced or otherwise living in sin heteros are destroying America. And how exactly does OH's DOMA fix that problem?!
