The FAQ says the rebate form will not work once the 200 limit has been reached. Does that mean the rebate form will disappear from the page. I don't want to spend $500 and find out there will be no rebate;)

How good is that 19" KDS monitor? How is that comparable to Viewsonic PF790 or PF795? Any review on it? Thanks!

eyor- doh, sorry just noticed a blurb on it i should have figured though =D well i did some checking for you and here's what i found for around the same price range. you can probably do better with a $110 or so budget but i tried to keep it under $100. check out the Maxtor DiamondMax 15gb HDD, 7200rpm and ATA/66. it's going for $136.79 on staples right now, item no. 428384. ask a CSR to pricematch it to buy.com who's having free shipping right now, search for model no. ST0151500U on buy.com's website ($103.95). even if they pricematch the shipping it should be under $115. use the $25 staples coupon and you're set. I called Staples to make sure, the model no. on the Maxtor HDD is the same as the one on buy.com's site, they should give you the pricematch. update: i just noticed there's an IBM 75GXP 30gb (ATA/100 - 7200rpm) on gogocity.com for $140, about another $10 for shipping. i'd personally go for this one, the 75gxp are one of, if not the best hdd lines on the market right now.

GreenGrinch- i've been looking for a new monitor and the KDS AV-195TF has the best stats i've seen for a 19in, it's .24 dot pitch, app grille, flatscreen, and awesome refresh rates up to a silky smooth 85hz @ 1600x1200. I was actually trying to go for a PF795 myself, but i couldn't find a price near $400. the AV-195TF is a lot cheaper with better stats i think, so that's why i gave up on the PF795 and went for this one. I don't think you'll regret it, not to mention half the people on this forum has one i believe =)

For the Coolpix 950
C4S has it for $749.99 (make it $750)
- $150 (20% rebate) - $100 Nikon rebate = $500 + shipping

The $100 Nikon rebate expires on 9/30/2000 so act fast if you want this digicam.

Midnight Rambler- i don't know about your experience, but i've had 2 WD's fail on me, and have had many friends confirm theirs were crap as well. the company i worked for refused to buy them at all as well, based on several reports. maybe i've just had bad luck with them but i'd pay a few extra bucks for an maxtor or ibm anyday.

I agree with ZeroBurn, I'd go with IBM first then Maxtor second. Never Western Digital. Unless of course your data isn't important to you.

I dont know what you guys are talking about, Unless things have changed WD has always been top of line, on par with IBMS the Maxtors have always been a value line HD

if you are buying the SONY WEGA TV take another $20 off $100 or more..

[deleted link to coupon]
anyways go to 800.com and in the homepage there is a promo where you can get $20off $100 or more
Ends 9/30/00 can not be combined with any other coupon... does that mean we can't use that rebate?

Poohbee - You may want to delete that 800.com $20 off $100 coupon since it's against forum rules to post coupons, lovely I know.

Can you qualify for BOTH free shipping and the 20% off deal at BFL on the same purchase? Appears the rebate form is one in the same for both with the disclaimer "Offer limited to one rebate per person/household and one rebate per order number"

Nitz's ECS page seems to indicate you can apply for both "If you're applying for free shipping AND cash back from the same order, you will need to fill out 2 different rebate forms"

Anybody gotten both rebates back?

Sorry, but WD hard drives have been crap for at least the past 3 years or so... they USED to be high quality, but something happened around late 96/early 97 and they have been producing largely crap every since. Last year they even had to do a recall of a large number of IDE drives as defective, and they've stopped making SCSI drives all together.

While quality has picked up somewhat since they started buying IBM parts I'd still never buy one of their drives after the high failure rates they've had last few years. Maxtor on the other hand has had the exact opposite occur, their quality has increased massively in the last few years. I'd rate IDE HD quality as:

1. IBM
3. Maxtor
4. Quantum
6. Anyone else
(numbers intentionally skipped to show a large gap)

Anyway, as for the 20% off deal... I finally got myself a sweet 21" monitor :) The Samsung P1100P Plus, one of the top rated in all the reviews I've read, gonna end up net cost of $650 to my door, plus I'll get another $150 from a friend for my 2 year old 19" KDS...

Has anyone seen the Sony Wega TV's? Is the picture really THAT much better to merit charging $500 more than a regular tube TV? Or are there other features I don't know about.

Don't mean to derail the thread, but I'm looking at using this coupon to buy a TV, and am wondering what makes these WEga TV's so special. I should probably take a walk down to Best Buy to look at them...

If comp4sure was not included in the rebate on the last 20% off deal, it would have stated that on the actual rebate form. This is why it is very important to read the form before you make a purchase. Since comp4sure is included this time, you will get a rebate as long as they are still running the deal. As far as last time, sorry, can't help you on that one since I wasn't registered then! Also, regarding when the rebate has reached the limit, I was at another site and when I clicked on the rebate offer, there was a separate window that popped up saying, "sorry, this offer has expired". So there is no guesswork in wondering if you will get the rebate.

About the KDS, I do think it is a good monitor, especially its price was cut to 350 around by the rebate, 1600x1200 .24mm 85hz, what else do you expect?

Pennstate,

When did they make you a mod who can tell me to shut up?

I'm making -accurate- statements. I have years of experience in IT. I've done work for IBM, MCI, Cisco, Sabre, Nortel, Dell, and others. I know of what I speak.
WD quality started to suck ass about 3 years ago. They -have- gotten better since they started to use many IBM parts of late, but their overall quality control is still not up to par. How many other HD makers have had a massive recall in the last few years other than WD? Sorry if you're bitter cuz you bought a WD or something, I just don't want to see someone else make that mistake.

And the link you posted, Storagereview.com is great... for learning the PERFORMANCE of a drive. It doesn't tell you anything at all about reliability. You'd think a "senior" member would know the diff :p

So anyway, back on the thread... my 21" from this deal is now listed as 'shipped'
from previous experience can anyone say how long the rebate -really- takes (since that is often different from the time they post in the rebate offer)

BigDave - you need to go look at one of the Wegas - they look like a flat 32" TFT screen with the clarity of a smaller TV screen (ie. none of the graininess associated with large-screen TVs).

I just bought from computers4sure. I hope I receive a rebate. I probably receive less than half of all rebates I apply for, so mabye this will be an exception. Instant coupons are so much better imho.
