but i'll show you a measure of grace :
1. same guy
2. same woman
3. those 8 people were the targets of anonymous accusers. a number were related to the aforementioned incident, and some were just caught in the whirlwind that ensued. basically, people dragged in by 'ambitious' others who thought the time was appropriate to file their own complaints.
4. if HR forced those 8 people to leave, i'm pretty sure they had enough (at least in their opinion) evidence to back up the claims of the 'victims', or at least thwart possible retaliatory wrongful-release suits

I thought the same thing. Hey OP....was there even an investigation into the underlings being axed? If not, HR might still have some problems with a couple of wrongful termination suits.

i believe there was a pretty extensive investigation, and it's still underway. they had a number of key 'witnesses' coming in over the weekend and staying late throughout the week; likely to formulate a workable case with which to go through with the terminations. take note: this is a major international corporation, any number of procedures/protocols are in place that need to be followed to the letter. layman's terms: it's hard to fire people. that's why this particular incident cause such shockwaves through the entire site: one moment we're celebrating a mass 'go live' with ice cream socials and august outings, the next we're watching person after person, some of whom we have both professional and personal relationships with, walked out the door by security personnel.

it was pretty intense, to say the least. HR has denied the release of any information about the terminated employees (i.e. contact info, etc), and such a refusal only adds to the tone of dread that underscores every action of every employee thoughout the entire site.


addressing pingspike: it's easy for a bystander like myself to judge. to me, corrupted by the media and my own biases, 'sexual harassment' is more often a tool used by - 1. ambitious up-and-comers 2. hypochondriacs 3. bored, lonely women - then by actual victims of a degrading, vicious verbal or physical assault.

so who knows, really? those 8 could truly have been degenerates posing as respectable white-collared members of society, or they could have been complete innocents who pissed off the wrong people, and found themselves in the wrong place at the wrong time. i'm inclined to the latter, but i'm as uninformed as the rest of the flock - just the way HR likes it.

pclstyle - Are you being serious? Which one of my questions are irrelevant to your OP? How was I trying to assert my intelligence? I wasn't the one trying to post like some Ivy League loser. Having worked for corporate America, I can attest that the scenario described in the OP is not as uncommon as people would like to believe.

Never underestimate the smaller head. Intelligence doesn't help you when it takes over. Typically men always think that they can get away with it anyway, forgetting that women are such fickle, unpredictable creatures. Most men think they would never jeopardize a marriage, but keep in mind that most men are not presented with the same oportunities.

When I see hot, beautiful women at work, in my head I always know that someone else at work is either sleeping with her or trying to get with her (typically the higher ups), regardless of the marital status of her or the pursuer.
