Do I have to spell all of these things out for you guys? In order to save fuel, protecting the precious environment that he loves so dearly, he parks the H1 at the edge of the truly rough terrain, then takes the more fuel efficient H2 back across the mildly rough terrain to his hybrid car parked at the edge of that terrain.
