I used to own pet rats when I was younger. Now don't confuse these with those gross nasty disease infested sewer rats you find in NY.

Think of them more along the lines of gerbals/hamsters. Proper pet rats are clean and actually kinda cute. The ones I had would get fairly big but not 9 lbs/3ft big haha...that's just insane.

They are the same rat, though... just domesticated, somewhat.

I've had rats, they're definitely the best of the pet rodents. They've got more in common with dogs than they do with mice/hamsters/gerbils/guinea pigs/rabbits. They're more ... conscious? like dog vs. cow.
