At the DMCA 1201 hearings at the Copyright Office at the Library of Congress, representatives from the MPAA showed a video demonstrating how users can videorecord a TV set. They argue this is an acceptable analog alternative to breaking copy protection on a DVD.

eh that would be a silly way to go about it.

wondering when they are going to ban VCR's or DVR's

It's funny how deluded the DCMA is. The differences between the way they want things (via legislation) versus the way things really are (reality) is just stark.

The more and more the MPAA and RIAA try to force the industry to reject new technology, attack their customers, and attempt to secure profits through lobbying politicians, the more and more I believe people should continue to pirate their material.

Don't get me wrong -- downloading copyrighted content is a form of theft. However, if the entertainment industry would cease their draconian tactics and actually adapt to what the market is begging for (easy to access and cheap content via the web) they wouldn't need to be worrying about the small minority that illegally obtain material.

LOL... what next? Oh noes... clips of our copyrighted material is imprinted in the viewers' brains! That's copyright infringement! Wahhhhhh...

Hmmm....then I'm going to interpret their statement to also mean that handheld recordings of advanced screenings in movie theatres are completely acceptable.
