Make sure you get the extended warranty.. and prepare to wait almost a month for a replacement from Microsoft.

Sounds like a heat problem, too much dust get sucked in maybe. I always use this with my 360s, keeps em cool.

LINK TO COOLER

It's a little loud but I can live with it, and the reviews show it lowers the internal temps a lot.

Last night on the 'phone MS told me it would be 10-12 business days total: 4-5 BD to get a shipping label / box to me, 2 BD for repair, 4-5 more BD to send it back. I wouldn't quite call that "almost a month" but let's see if they're true to their word!

Seems like it's starting to happen to some of the first way 360s. Whenever I get around to plunking down the $$$ for one, I'm gonna make sure to get a PRP from Bestbuy. From what I understand, if it breaks within the 3 years, they give you a voutcher for what you paid for whatever you got the PRP on, you then use that voucher however you want in BB. Doesn't sound like a terrible deal to me on something like a 360.

Yep, 90 day warranty from MS. After that, it's $140 for the repair on a 360 console.

You would think that a company like Microsoft would have done some quality control on something as expensive and mainstream as the 360 ...

: )

My friend bought one the first day they came out. About 10 minutes after playing it I felt how hot it was and predicted that it wouldn't last very long. I think he got a few months out of it before using the warranty.

Sony and Nintendo FTW on this one. Or...even better: buy parts and build a cmoputer. Consoles are teh ghey.

Its starting to smell like there's a reason the warranty is so crap.
