If you're going to go that big, why not just get a 1080p DLP projector at a fraction of the price?

at that point I'd think you're wanting name brand / looks (a projector isn't exactly the sexiest of solutions). As far as function the only thing I can come up with is some sort of bar or some place with a lot of light where a projector might simply not be able to cut it.

You're right of course. I was thinking this would strictly be used in someone's home.

I've never been to a bar that was willing to spend $33k on a freakin TV. IMagine how much the drinks must cost.

All the bars I've been to here in downtown San Diego all have nice 50-60" plasma screens but cant even afford to hook them up to an HD signal. They're all running through effing composite.

HAHAHA! Yeah, the Applebee's bar has a 50" plasma, but they don't even have the aspect ratio set right! They're stretching standard def 4x3 into a HiDef 16x9 display. It looks absolutely awful. People look like they live on Jupiter or something

Exactly. A bunch of my friends and I went to the downtown San Diego Hooters for the Chuck Lidell vs Tito Ortiz UFC fight. We got there super early and got a table right infront of the main 60" plasma screen. Before the fight I noticed the picture looked like crap and sure enough there was composite cables running into the side input. When the fight started, I had to turn around and watch the fight on a crappy 27" bubble screen TV cause the picture looked 10x better than the plasma screen as sad as that sounds.

^ no that sounds about right. I doubt that anyone who works at that Hooter's know dick about setting something like that up properly.

and they were the most unattractive hooters girls I think I have ever seen.

Talk about adding insult to injury. Looked like someone hooked them up through composite because they looked stretched and distorted.

Nothing is broadcast in 1080p, only 720p and 1080i.

HD-DVDs and Blu-Ray discs are 1080p.

Or so says the back of all my HD-DVDs...
