I've never played Paper Mario, so that does not do anything for me as a comparison. I guess I was expecting a traditional turn-based RPG, but this sounds like a hybrid of some sort. That is not necessarily a bad thing, it was just not what I was expecting and not something I really want to pay full price for.

KT

It's just timing, press the button when the attack lands to deal more damage or receive less damage when being attacked. Paper Mario, Super Mario RPG, Legend of Dragoon have all done it. I'm sure plenty more too (I want to say the Penny Arcade games and FF8?). It's turn based with a little more player engagement.

I keep hearing "I want it, but I won't pay full price for it!".
There have been coupon codes for a week or more to bring the price down quite a bit.

Personally I am going to hit redbox for a rental on the PS3.....I know I am bringing shame on the PC Master Race. This looks like more of a console game to me and I've barely used my PS3 in the last 3 years I need to feel like less of an idiot for buying one.

This doesn't need the power of a gaming PC. I'm playing on a mobile i7 sandy bridge @ 1080P with no issues.

I'm enjoying it. If you like south park and like RPGs you'll probably have fun with it. Its not really a traditional RPG experience though. Very south park. much wow.

In case you didn't see some posts from the other guys, you WILL have to smash some buttons later on. Most people are reporting that they need to use some sort of cheat to get past it with a keyboard & mouse. Either by slowing the game speed by half, or by using a macro program to spam a key.

Screw that. Game just went from a must buy to a forget about it.

I'd say you're really missing out if you're not playing it with a controller anyway. If you're a South Park fan, you're doing yourself a huge disservice by not buying this game. If you're not a South Park fan, you shouldn't even consider buying it.

I finished the game. One of the best games I've ever played to be honest. It's not a perfect game (The QTE segments bring it down IMO), but it was fun and engaging. I don't watch South Park but I had a good time with it.

Remember, never fart on a man's balls (except Al Gore's). 🙂

I think the most pervasive problem, cross-platform is that it's way too easy. Even turned up the highest difficulty, it's very rare to lose a fight.

Agreed.

You can nitpick the gameplay elements (difficulty, console port, etc), but the positives (story, dialogue, voice acting, 10 trillion references) far outweigh the negatives. Well done by the devs.

Then wait until it's $29.99.
It was well worth the full price for me.

As a member of the PC Master Race, I feel this way as well. I'm just not used to paying that much for a PC game. Even with the Green man discount, $45 is still a lot!

We're just spoiled... 🙂

I've got such a backlog, I'll wait a bit.

I say it depends. I've had fights where I've been dominating and one wrong move and I'm suddenly on the back foot. I also can't seem to beat Al Gore. :/

Man I do..what class are you?

I played mage playing hardcore difficulty and ran into very few problems.

Tips:
1) Be sure to stay well equipped with gear close to your level (buy from shops if you have to)
2) Sell junk all the time, you make plenty of bank in this game. Use it for gear + stack up on consumables.
3) Utilize consumables. You can use one item per person, PER TURN before attacking. This alone makes the game really easy.
4) Play with the controller and work on your reactions.

Yup, this. As a mage I usually start off with the lighting attack for AOE damage and the electric shield on myself. Then I just dragon breath or fish-rocket everything to death. If I take any hard hits, I scarf some health potions. My perks keep my PP up just from healing and dealing damage.

Ha ha here is a screen from the edited Australian version:

Playing through it again as a different class and still loving it. Made the opposite choice this time. I'm about 3/4 of the way through already since I don't have to learn anything new like the first time.
One minor thing I don't like - at parts you are automatically equipped (or unequipped) and I don't realize it until I start a battle.
I did have the occasional flickering of my character in some of the endgame cut scenes (since your character is actually portrayed the way you've made them, not set like the rest), but it wasn't a big deal at all.
