ok so heres the situation. me and my friend try fixing my computer. reformatting and everything. really weird stuff happens with the video cards and mouse/keyboard and display and such.(i can go in more detail if needed)

anywho. we get it working fine, i run counterstrike and it works fine. i quit and go to some random websites and all of a sudden i get really weird lines in wrong positions. everysite seems like its format if slightly off and everything is out of place. then i go to play CS and it goes nuts. when i walk near anyone theres large rectangles protruding out of them and large shapes and lines pointing out of everywhere.

so my questions is.. WTF is wrong???

heres some guesses..
1. motherboard issue ----> somehow messing up the video card
2. driver issues - but just installed new 6600gt drivers
3. RAM issue - we had some problems with it in my old computer and stuff.

if anyone has any ideas plz let me know. this is just a temporary computer to use until i7s drop in price.. which would also be helpful to know about if anyone has any info on that.

thanks.

Mayhaps you didn't clean the system of the old drivers registry+other files? If you didn't then updated to a different driver set, there might be a bit of conflict, although very rare when you're in the same set of drivers. Try using older drivers, and make sure that the drivers you have work for the GF6 series, not the 8 or something.

Another thing, if you're just gaming with this system, C2 is the sweet spot in terms of price/performance with i7 systems offering small performance increases and only to the high end systems where you actually need the improvement. If you're not a high-res gamer with a superb set-up, i7 has nothing to really offer a gamer, unless you enjoy some video encoding on the side.
