oh my god why does older RHCP kick so much ass

Ns1

No Lifer
I'm listening to this killer soundboard rip of a live show that they did in Argentina back in 2001.

Back when JAMFF actually played notes in his solos instead of pushing it through xxx pedals and making odd abstract noises ala mars volta.

Long ass jam sessions, great guitarist, killer rhythm section

I especially loved their 30 minute rendition of give it away that they played for us in Vegas

<3 pre-2004 RHCP

My god, nobody does intro/exit jams like RHCP

//edit

this has NOTHING to do with their studio work, only their live work

I think their studio work is meh, but their live work is fucking awesome. I also don't think it's changed much from 91/92 - 2004 (their style of play rather), except without the socks on cocks

Live @Slane > Live @Hyde > BSSM > *

Haha. Their new stuff doesn't rock as much as their real music because they're mostly clean and sober now.

It's trendy to say that x band's old music was so much better. You can even try that with bands that just came out. People don't know so they'll believe you.

K. Go listen to all of it.

Their first few albums were sick, they lost John Frusciante, who seemed to be a critical part of the band @ least concerning writing. I mean listen to the riffs, solos, etc. on Blood Sugar Sex Magik! To me this is by far their best work...

One Hot Minute came out, all the tracks were boring, they sobered up, had kids & made out with each other in the first solo music video.... yeah.... nothing says "win" like that. 🙂

I have.

Their last album won 6 grammys. People didn't exactly think it sucked.

Other than trying to maintain some idiotic trendy smug front you don't have much of a point. Try doing a little research instead of talking out of your ass. You'll find that your posts will be of slightly higher quality, and you won't come off sounding like a 20 year old kid.

The album gained the band seven Grammy Award nominations in 2007 including an award for Best Rock Album.

I count 3 wins.

I bought their last album the day it hit the shelves. I still  BSSM > *.rhcp

Edit: that reminds me. I can't find Jupiter. 🙁

As I said, the album won 6 grammys:

"In February 2007, Stadium Arcadium won 6 Grammys: Best Rock Album, Best Rock Song ("Dani California"), Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal ("Dani California"), Best Boxed Or Special Limited Edition Package, Best Producer (Rick Rubin),[58] and Best Short Form Music Video ("Dani California"). The ceremony included a live performance of "Snow ((Hey Oh))", their single at the time, complete with confetti snow."

Their first 3 albums were great. In particular, Freaky Styley, where they were backed up by the Parliament horns section and produced by George Clinton, is awesome. Actually I have an autographed copy of that album that I got at an in-store on that tour - they smuggled some friends and me (we were high school sophomores) into their show at a 21-and-over club. IMO they actually started sucking when they got into drugs (Mother's Milk era), and went sharply downhill from there. Their music in the mid- to late-90s is just unlistenable to me, and they really have never made it back.

Aren't you the guy who thinks Woody Allen is good?

I am one of millions of such guys, but yes, I am a guy who thinks Woody Allen is good.

If I can expand on my original point, I think Anthony Kiedis is maybe the worst singer in a major rock band in modern history. RHCP started to really blow when he started trying to actually sing - he can't carry a tune and seems to be totally tone-deaf. That was OK when he was kind of just talking, but when he tries to actually sing, it's like a howling dog.

Insert foot in mouth. Wiki didn't show me the rest of those.

Slane Castle is an amazing DVD. Live RHCP is great. I was at their By The Way tour and the Stadium Arcadium tour. They played a couple of old songs at each. Intro is always killer.

Worse than Bob Dillan? :Q

I agree that Dylan is not a great singer - actually I have never really been a Dylan fan - but I can't deny the strength of his songwriting. Look at it this way - without him Hendrix could never have performed All Along the Watchtower!

yah man. I caught them 6 times during their "BTW" tour.

Jane's Addicition > Faith No More > RHCP with Dave Navarro >> old RHCP >>>>>Britney Spears>New Kids on the Block>>>> my own shit pushed into my eye sockets>>>>RHCP after the junkie came back

And yes, I've seen RHCP live in person, with the junkie pretending to play guitar with them.

Sorry, this is the plain, unvarnished, undeniable truth. Comparing Frusciante and Navarro as guitarists is like comparing Meg White and Jimmy Chamberlain as drummers. They're not even in the same universe of skill, creativity, or talent.
