While I’d understand if it was for a picture or a keepsake, I don’t get why he wants a cropped picture to keep around

I wish they would show the actual cropped image in comparison, and not the Obama inauguration photo for this article. ....it's confusing. There is nothing cropped in that comparison image, and everything about it is obviously quite different--it's clearly not the same event.

I know because I am a pub quiz pro.
 
Remember, this was just Day 2. Imagine being that guy at NPS getting the phone calls from Trump, Zinke and Priebus all...day...long.

That guy probably went home to his partner and said "get ready for the greatest shit show in American history..."

This. The pics shown above aren't cropped. What do the cropped ones look like? And who wouldn't want pics that showed things to the best advantage for them? Check real estate photos, hotels, vacation spots and so on and so on. They ALL make pics that show things to the best advantage for them. I crop personal photos to leave out undesirable items. Seems like a real nothingburger.

Still find it odd that the request wasn’t for a picture or keepsake to be kept it was just because I want it.
But who knows maybe he wanted to send the cropped picture to someone who handles Trump Tower displays but even that is odd I’d assume that person would be capable of cropping the picture.

Not that I don’t believe Trump and admin would do it but this seems to be a pretty weak story...

Yes, I read the same one. And to be fair, Trump did not ask that the photos be cropped. He asked for photos showing the crowd was yuuuuge and they decided to crop it to give him what he wanted. Technically, the wrong doer here is the person who did the cropping. Trump's obsession with crowd sizes and ratings is pathetic, but it doesn't look like he tried to perpetrate a fraud. This time.

I agree and I’m not trying to say he committed fraud or something illegal. Just a weird thing that came out from a freedom of information request
Really odd that the photo was cropped to make the President happy.
