Make people pass a civics test to earn the privilege to vote. You can make it really easy, like, "Is this a circle or a square", or "Is this man pointing a shark at your or is he eating a salami sub sandwich"

For christ sake, how can some dumbasses even navigate their way to the correct polling place. And for those who don't, how you can manage to voice words that get you to vote at the incorrect place is also astounding.

What the fuck!

Oh....sorry I just voted and am just a little shocked that we allow the same people we won't even give a license to or be near children or do anything responsible, the ability to vote for our leaders.

True - some of the republicans I've spoken to that think Obama is actually a secret Muslim socialist from Kenya should be instantly denied the ability to vote.

There should be a simple test:
* Do you think Obama is a socialist? Yes / No - if someone picks yes they instantly fail.

To add to this, I think that the ballot should contain only names, no party affiliations. Make people learn who the hell they are voting for and not just vote by party.

I also think they should ban political radio and TV advertising. Too much deception and money involved.

Plus then I wouldn't have to listen to that garbage for months on end.

edit: Or if too many people bitch and moan about free speech, let the candidate record one advertisement that is an endorsement for themselves, without mentioning their party or any opponents name.

I agree, I fear for humanity from seeing some of the people in line to vote.

Without going into partisan politics, just look at this video as an example:

http://youtu.be/nY0M7IdNl7U

I'm sure there are equally scary videos of Democrat voters, but I don't have quick access to one, but watch the vid and be scared.

Straight ticket voting is likely responsible for countless retards holding public office.

Free speech is not going to allow such.

It would be great though to force a positive message on why you should be elected, instead of why the other guy is a ahole.

Listing what the other guy voted against is apparently "negative campaigning" according to one of our local Republican candidates. :D

They'll just vote based on the assumed race and ethnicity in their names. It's how all the Irish judges get elected in Illinois, big green billboards with shamrocks on them.

Mitt could change his name to Mizzle Rizzle to pick up the urban vote.

If Government had a proper role, would you ever even feel the desire to vote?

Juddog, my dad believes in the secret Muslim shit. It makes me sad that he's fallen for that stupid gimmick. I've tried to educate him differently, but it's a fruitless effort as I cannot possibly be his only source of information.

My mother believes anyone who donates as much to charity as Romney must be a good man. :(

It's pretty sad when people fall for this kind of thing. In my experience it tends to be the same kind of people that also fall for email phishing attacks and malware, but maybe that's just because I work in IT.

I've literally had people scream in my face that he's a Muslim, or that he formed "death camps", or that he's going to take away our guns, etc..

I guess it just goes to show you that there is a certain portion of the populace that is simply gullible and will believe just about anything if it fits in with their worldview.

houston city elections don't have (R) and (D) next to the names. seems superior to me.

Yep. I would also want to remove registration of party affiliation, make all primaries open. You wouldn't vote for candidates per party, you would simply pick the top 3 candidates you want.

I would also want candidates to select their VP prior to the primary. I don't like that they can sneak in that person afterwards.

Aren't they all "R" down there by default?

See, and this is where problems lie. People who don't know jack about politics chime in.

If you knew anything about Houston, you'd know that it's a liberal safehaven. In fact, it's a sanctuary city and it's current mayor is lesbian.

Or when liberals claim Republicans are going to take away our BC
