OH...MY...G... I JUST MADE AN INSANE DEAL.

My friend hinted me, that one company he had worked with was selling their test server. The server was Dell Poweredge 1600SC (Xeon 2Ghz/512Mb/36Gb SCSI 15Krpm/Powervault PV110T/Adaptec 39160 controller...) Nothing special here.
The guy I contacted said it comes with 2003 Server, and asked me to make an offer.
So... I thought about it, and decided to make an offer of ?500,-... only because it came with 2k3 server license. The guy accepted my offer, and said hell throw in also all other programs/CDs that came with it.

So today I go to pick it up and stuff it in my car after checking it ok. Then the guy comes with a huge box, and says here is the other stuff. I put it also in my car, and though I'll check it when I get home.

Just went through the box... AND IT HAS:

-Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition
- Windows 2000 Advanced Server with SP4
- Exchange Server 2000 Standard Edition
- Exchange Server 2000 SP3
- SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition
- SQL Server 2000 Developer Edition SP3a
- Commerce Server 2002 Developer Edition
- Commerce Server 2002 Developer Edition SP1
- Host Integration Server 2000
- Host Integration Server 2000 SP1
- Visual Studio .NET 2003 Enterprise Developer
- Visual Studio .NET 2003 Enterprise Developer (system prerequisities)
- Visual SourseSafe 6.0d
- Windows 2000 SP4
- MSDN Library (3 DISCS)

ALL PACKAGES WITH LICENSE KEYS ETC... :Q The guy had propably NO idea what all this is worth...

---> going back to drool over this stuff

wow....thats like...I don't even know how much in software. Like 10K+? Depending on how many connections etc. you get with each liscence. but GJ.

Hmm, upon further inspection most stuff has "Volume license product key"??? I'm thinking this is prolly property of the IT company that developed and deployed the software for them. I find it hard to beleive, that if they actually paid for all this they'd be letting it go for so cheap... I need to do some checking, don't want to get my a$$ sued for selling this stuff.

WINNER!

Ehhhhh...

That stuff is out of date now. Chances are that company is upgrading the server and installing SQL Server 2005.

So true. You'll have to give it away. My self-addressed, stamped envelope is ready and waiting. 😀

Someone bring in RossMAN and get his stamp of approval on this deal!

Maybe you should call this guy back and verify he didn't accidentally give you the wrong box...

Are you keeping all of it, or selling it? I might be interested in the SQL Server...

You cant sell them legally. Put em on ebay, and theyll be gone the next day with a big ol warning that MS is going to kill you. Try to sell them here, and the mods will rape you.

Sorry bud, you didnt get anything special.

And technically neither could the guy who sold them to the OP. OP, have fun playing with your new software, but I wouldn't try to sell it. 🙂
