restorer2000 pro has never let me down...borked HDs, accidental deletions...that program is worth it's weight in gold.

make sure you don't write any data to that drive, and run getdataback, you'll get it all back fine.

once the boot sector of my maxtor 250 drive mysteriously dissapeared, and it showed up as an unformatted volume. I was STILL able to recover 150gigs of data.

always have a backup

i told myself that i'd "eventually" get around to backing up my data, but i finally implemented a good and EASY backup plan over 3 harddrives (2 computers) using this program. it rocks. 🙂

Yup. Even in the event of a lightning strike, I have ~75 percent of my collection backed up on a fully seperate PC, and when I'm off at school, my collection is backed up on the other side of the state.

2) run http://www.runtime.org/gdb.htm and see if it finds anything

3) if it does fvkign pay the $70 for the software which in case will be worth every penny

4)recover your data

5) never let us know of your idiocy agaijn

Not sh!t. If you are that upset, I better not here any bitching about having to pay $70 to get your data back.

i like the knoppix idea...

your stuff is still basically recoverable with any number of forensic tools. until you overwrite the *free*space

Don't write anything to the disk, man. There are recovery utilities that can get the data back. I can't recall the NAME of one off the top of my head, though 🙂
