I sold my BFG 6800GT OC since I really don't need that much of a card. I ordered a 6600GT to replace it. I let the buyer know it would take me a while to ship since I was waiting for the new card. I just realized that I ordered a PCI-E card instead of an AGP card. Now it is going to take an extra week to get the card for me.

I have never screwed up like this before.

UPDATE: so I offerred to drop the shipping charges and include Doom 3 with it. They are happy with that. I still feel bad about my screw up though.

Meh, you'll live. Just keep the buyer updated and happy. Virtual hand job if necessary.

Agreed. this was not the buyers error, so he should not have to wait any longer.

that is what I am thinking, but I don't have a replacement card.

maybe I can just refund their shipping costs to compensate for the trouble. Does that sound fair?

PCI-E instead of VGA? What?
You mean PCI-E instead of AGP? I think the PCI-E card is still VGA ;)

It was your mistake. You shouldnt make the buyer wait. Afterall, what if they sold their older card and are planning on yours? You'll live for a week, do the right thing.:)

talk it over with the buyer. if he is cool with that...then go for it. but if he wants the card soon...i think u should give it to him. also making him wait too long might get u a neg feedback

I really don't care about feedback, I just want to make things right. I will email the buyer to see what it will take to make them happy.

You should not be selling something if you aren't ready to ship it, unless you made it clear in your auction or with the buyer beforehand (which I assume you did). However, your agreement with the buyer was for the original delivery date I presume, and now that there is an additional delay due to your mistake, you should do whatever to make the buyer happy. If he wants it now, then you ship it. If he says he can wait (given some incentives like a discount or something) then you can wait. However, as a buyer who has already paid he is justified in expecting that the card is shipped in a timely fashion.

I fully agree.

I offerred to throw in Doom 3 and refund all shipping charges for the delay. I am also prepared to just ship it out and deal with my mistake.

i just sent my spare graphics card to VeggieFrog, or I would have been glad to lend it to you... perhaps you could borrow one from someone here... or post in ATFS... offer to pay shipping both ways, and maybe $10.00 or so... will be the same as refunding shipping costs and giving a free game and you wont have to eat crow with the buyer on eBay.

Just a thought.

Great idea, but I am going to see what the buyer says. I am throwing about $55 at them right now to cover my error.

I have always been a good ebayer, but this time I messed up. I could care less about feedback, but I don't want to screw the buyer over.

What I would do is ship the buyer's card, and then order a 6600GT AGP and have it sent overnight or second-day air to me, and refuse delivery of the PCI-E one.
