I haven't yet got into this game, but seems promising. I got the basics down and it looks like it could be fun.
Make sure you toggle between Town, City, Map to see where you are, it's almost like the other game where we kill stuffs. You can build resources in City view, it's pretty easy to figure out. Try it.

I'm at server 83, state FRANCONIA, coords 158, 126.
Your captain needs you. I suppose you can use a teleport thingy to get to my state, which is FRANCONIA.
I have 14600 prestige, ranked 1319 after two days of playing and delivered fails once. The alliance is, as you've guessed it, FAILBOAT. You can join once you have an embassy.
I'm sure you guys are all intelligent, but if you need some help with starting out, let me know. Pay attention to the quest lines, often times they will give you rewards that are better than the resources spent to upgrade for the quest.
Upgrade the parts that matter to complete a quest, as you can advance more efficiently. Remember, this is an RTS game of sort, so resource, resource, resource. Concentrate on lumber, quarry and iron first. Food is only needed for a few upgrades in the beginning, and for troops upkeep, which is later.
Do not upgrade your town hall to lvl. 5 unless you're ready. Scroll around your neighborhood to make sure there are no imminent dangers within striking distance.
