Oh Fox news you silly goose falling for Trolls

http://money.cnn.com/2017/02/27/media/fox-news-guest-sweden-bill-oreilly/index.html

Fox News anchor Bill O'Reilly last week sought the expert advice of a man calling himself Nils Bildt during a segment on refugees in Sweden.
Bildt, who was billed as a "Swedish defense and national security adviser," largely backed a narrative promoted by President Trump that portrays asylum seekers as being responsible for an increase in violent crimes in the country.

"We are unable in Sweden to socially integrate these people," Bildt said of refugees. "These things are not being openly and honestly discussed."

Just one problem: Nobody in the Swedish government has ever heard of Bildt.

I will give them credit O'Reilly is going to address this tonight.

Who is Nils Bildt? Swedish 'national security advisor' interviewed by Fox News is a mystery to Swedes.

If the article above is correct, Fox News didn't fall for Trolls, they are the Trolls:
Reached via email, Bildt initially said that he did not dispute anything in the Dagens Nyheter report, though he noted that he had not chosen the title with which he was attributed by Fox News. “I made clear that I am an independent analyst,” Bildt said.

Apparently the guy told them he was an independent analyst not associated with Swedish government, it was the Fox that decided to describe him as "SWEDISH DEFENSE AND NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISOR" on live TV.

If any other network did this the conservatives would be calling it fake news.

Fox News is the no.1 most viewed news channel in the U.S. Which means the U.S. has the most misinformed news viewers. It is basically 'info-terrorism', having the power to sway voters into electing even an absolute moron as pres. The damage it has done/can do to the country and the world is incalculable.

This is what fake news looks like. Ans this isn't the first time Fox has done something similar. This is the reason it is frustrating when there is any comparison between Fox and any other network news.

The Fox News host Bill O’Reilly distanced himself on Monday from a guest his show falsely identified last week as a “Swedish defense and national security adviser,” saying he should not have been invited to appear in a segment on immigrants and crime in Sweden.

The guest, Nils Bildt, appeared on The O’Reilly Factor last Thursday to support claims made by Mr. O’Reilly that immigration had led to an uptick in violent crime in Sweden. But according to Swedish officials and American court records, Mr. Bildt has no known ties to Sweden’s security establishment and has a criminal record of his own in the United States.

Mr. O’Reilly’s on-air remarks came after Mr. Bildt accused Fox of making up his official-sounding title and a parade of Swedish officials said they had never heard of him. He called criticism of Mr. Bildt “valid.”

There's nothing fake about any news reported. They just didn't tell the viewers enough about their guest. O'Reilly cleared it up in 30 seconds yesterday. More news organizations should clear up such matters. Kudos to Fox for full disclosure

Lol. of course. Did you read the article?

Sure did. I also did better than that. I saw the interview live as well as the correction last night
Did you also read the part where Fox changed his title from "Independent Analyst" to a much more formal "Swedish Defense and National Security Advisor" making it sound like he represents the Swedish government? Deliberate misrepresentation of facts is lies, or fake news as our dear leader likes to say.

How do you know it was deliberate? I doubt that it was. They sure didn't want to go back and issue a retraction like they did. The key here is that they owned up to it and cleared it up. Mistakes happen.

Well I haven't posted or tweeted anything like the above with CNN. As for CNN or other networks, it'd be refreshing if they admitted to their errors more often

Fox has a record of misleading, faking, lying and even hiring actors to misrepresent news, events or organizations. Their brazenness at times can be mind-boggling.

Tucker Carlson Couldn’t Debate the Anti-Trump Organizer He Wanted, So This Actor Stepped In

Tucker Carlson is excellent thus it doesn't surprise me that liberals don't want to be challenged on his show. They often can't defend their position and he exposes that. They don't want to look silly on national television

Yes, the conservative hypocrisy when it comes to selective interpretation of news is pretty sad, but it's also not surprising.

That being said, I've rarely found Bill O'Reilly to be deliberately misleading. He's an ego driven ignoramus and by most accounts a horrible human being in real life but part of his egoism seems tied into having at least some level of credibility. I'm not surprised he issued a correction for this sort of thing and it's nice that he did.
