Heres what you do;

1. Go to autozone and rent a code reader
2. Read and reset the code
3. Return code reader to autozone and get your deposite back
4. Take car to shop or buy the parts and fix it yourself.

With an OBDII car, the codes will pretty much tell you exactly whats wrong.

Edit - Its on tight. 😛

It might have a torn gasket on the gas cap. That failed my old escort during an inspection. Stupid gas cap... 😛

On most modern cars, a solid CEL means that there is an issue, but it is not serious. A flashing CEL means that there is a major problem and to seek service ASAP.

Remove gas cap, put gas cap back on. Open hood, remove pos battery cable for 5 minutes, put cable back on, drive car as normal and wait and see if light comes back on. If it does you got a problem, if not problem solved.
That will be $10 paypal please for online diag to my paypal account, thankyou, come again.

If that was the problem, it will take several times of starting and turning off the car for the light to go out. I have a 04 corolla

Thats why you do what Funboy42 posted above you. Disconnect the battery for five minutes.
