My guess is that many exotic cars are the same way. Design for style and performance, rather than for easy repairs.
 
How many a/c compressors is someone going to replace in the service life of a car like the R8?

There are some cars where you have to drop the engine to just access sparkplugs.

A big reason why these are considered exotics and out of most people's reach even if they can handle the asking price.
 
How the hell did they fuck up the compressor? And like alkemyst says, exotic also means we don't do things easy.
 
Isn't there an even more benign basic service item than this on a particular ferrari that requires removal of the engine?
 
In high school, this girl had a Ford Probe that required lots of labor to replace the starter.
 
Wouldn't it still be under warranty at only 1 year old ? ? ? As to other cars with hard to get to parts, try the starter in a Cadillac Northstar V8
It is Inside the engine block.
