The only thing about Gatorade is it's got so much sugar in it, and what does sugar do? Dehydrates you.
Surely there are better alternatives.

Read the first couple google results.

That probably wan't alcohol poising then just hungover, according to friends from that night I a fifth of dry gin (gin and juice used to be my fav), nearly 2 pints of hot damn 100, 3 beers, and at least 4 shots of black velvet. one of the guys that was there was so afraid that I was going to die he also quit drinking.
Shouldn't you be dead?

You're wrong about Gatorade dehydrating you. Depending on the amount of sugar in water, it will help hydrate you faster than water itself -- gatorade is a bit too sweet for optimal rehydration (7% sugar solution is max. optimal, IIRC), but if you dilute it, it's perfect.

Regardless, it does NOT dehydrate you whatsoever, and in some cases, rehydrates you as well or better than water. There is no medical literature I have ever seen that would actually state that Gatorade (or any sugar solution mixed with water, kept under a 7% solution) dehydrates you.

i remember i did 22 for my 22nd birthday over the course of 4 hours beer and shots of vodka

that was not a good experience waking up in a pile of puke
and puking all the next morning
i couldnt stand to eat anything the entire next day because i felt like crap and anything i put in my mouth just tasted horrible

and for about 4 days following my saliva tasted extremely salty i really dont know why that happened

now that i have graduated college the drinking has pretty much ended

Now that you've graduated, reserve your brain cells for social drinking only.

As for the salty saliva, make sure it wasn't man juice (eww). Maybe some dude wanted to take advantage of you while you were vulnerable. 😛 Call it a birthday surprise. 😉

Hmmm. I've heard by some health nuts I work with that it does. Never researched myself though. Though I've read several places that say it dehyrdates newborns. However, that sugar does obviously make your blood sugar level spike and drop off, and the other main reason you're hungover besides being dehydrated is because the alcohol stimulated insulin, which kept your blood sugar level lower than normal.
Regardless sugar isn't good.
