A new ruckus arises over military sights and the Biblical inscriptions on them.

Do we send the message that we are fighting a war for Christianity, or for the people of Afghanistan?

What is your opinion?

I think the company should pay to remove the inscriptions or suffer the loss of military business. If support of personal belief they have harmed the nation.

So you don't want to send military personnel into a war zone with the best equipment on the market?

By the way, if you take the serial number off a dollar bill and manipulate it I am sure you can find a connection to the bible. I am sure that is the case with probably a significant number of product used bother here and Iraq. ABC is simply trying to manufacture news.

I know it's a lot to ask, but if you read the story the company has admitted it already, so it's not just a coincidence or a manipulation of the numbers.

muslims are easily insulted.... a lot of muslims died just because some Danish newspaper printed a picture of mohammed. I say the company should scrape them off.

I think it's a useful reminder all the times that Jesus resorted to violence to make sure he got his way, and urged us to do the same.

Nobody fucks with the Jesus.

Probably not the smartest thing to do when you're fighting crazy extremists Muslims that believe you're there as part of a crusade.

Also separation of church and state issue. The gov't has no business in religion and vice versa.

They are already trying to kill Americans so what's the difference. In for a penny...

Heh RTFA,
it's references to biblical verses and admitted by the company.

You'll win hearts and minds of all Muslims if you're running around with Jesus rifles...

Besides it likely being unconstitutional and against military code (no proselytizing), it's f'king pointless. If you have a gov't contract to make sights, leave your dogma at home.

Want to try and explain it away again?

The company's vision is described on its Web site: "Guided by our values, we endeavor to have our products used wherever precision aiming solutions are required to protect individual freedom."

"We believe that America is great when its people are good," says the Web site. "This goodness has been based on Biblical standards throughout our history, and we will strive to follow those morals."

Trijicon confirmed to ABCNews.com that it adds the biblical codes to the sights sold to the U.S. military. Tom Munson, director of sales and marketing for Trijicon, which is based in Wixom, Michigan, said the inscriptions "have always been there" and said there was nothing wrong or illegal with adding them. Munson said the issue was being raised by a group that is "not Christian." The company has said the practice began under its founder, Glyn Bindon, a devout Christian from South Africa who was killed in a 2003 plane crash.

I think we need a new government agency to monitor for potentially offensive serial numbers. Yay....new jobs!!!

Disgusting. American fundamentalist talibanism at its finest.

What's the images this company wish to project by doing this? "I kill you in the name of Jesus with my biblically emblazoned weapon!", maybe? I seriously can't see what other reason it could be. If it'd been a hunting rifle scope it wouldn't really have mattered, but military weapons don't really have any other use than murdering human beings, so the end result becomes rather frightening to me, and any other rational person.

Excellent example of why you should not under any circumstance mix religion with either government or the military.

"We believe that America is great when its people are good," says the Web site. "This goodness has been based on Biblical standards throughout our history, and we will strive to follow those morals."
...Right. And if people aren't good, just shoot them with Jesus-rifles. That'll teach them!

Good ol' biblical standards and morals, supporting the building of equipment to help kill people more easily.
