Their search isn't restricted to the title, look at the reviews and product description...a compact (small) printer fulfills half your search terms...the the 32nd result isn't exactly that bad

Also, how's your printer situation? I'm sure you need a new one right about now, today, asap. Add to cart.

It seems to me that amazon's search actually listed the most relevant things first in this case. The only item with "small" in the title isn't what I would call a traditional fan. You searched poorly, but Amazon understood what you meant. Amazon > you.

Amazon is pretty awesome overall...but their search sucks.

WAY to many random results that have nothing to do with the actual search object.

Hell, you can enter an exact part number and get shit that's totally unrelated.

You know it has been a while since I bought my last laser printer. And it is a Brother... :ninja:

I know its not restricted to title but a random printer in the middle of a bunch of fans is a bit odd. If it truly picked up on compact (small) then there should be several more of their compact printers listed

Agreed. I had to drill down cameras>lenses>Canon mount>sigma brand>Minimum focal length>Amazon.com as seller>maximum focal length just to find what I was looking for, only to be informed Amazon will need 1-2 months to deliver.

And this while Amazon partners have it in stock as well as their non-partner competition (ahem, B&H). I just wanted to spend $900 this week for my b-day (or rather the wife does), but that ain't going to happen.

And yes, supposedly the new (Dec 2013 release) Sigma 24-105/F4 is slightly better than the Canon L equivalent and $200 less. I tried the only B&M store in Atlanta and they do not carry this Sigma product, and I'm starting to wonder if this is Canon pressuring resellers.

I would at least be happy if checking "Prime Eligible" would stick to only Prime items. Good God it's annoying to scroll through pages upon pages of results, find the perfect gift, and then realize that it's only available from some third party with no guarantee that it'll arrive in time.

A better organization of their "departments" would be nice, too. I wouldn't guess that to find sheets of kydex, aluminum, etc. I'd need to go into Industrial and Scientific. In addition, some home improvement tools or parts fall under Tools & Home Improvement, while others are in Home & Kitchen.

Sounds like the search works great.

And nobody has it in stock, probably, because it's cheaper and better than the first party equivalent.

What's keeping you from buying it from someone with it in stock?

And to Exterous:

The printer is already on its way. Just add it to your cart already!

Maybe you're just not imaginitive enough to figure out how they can be used together. :colbert:

Their search is MILES ahead of Best Buy's from a year or so ago.

My wife went to visit her mom in the hospital and forgot the adapter for her laptop. She had a Best Buy nearby so I tried to find her a substitute.

Searching for "HP <whatever model number> power adapter" (and the like) said "11000 results found".

Are you fucking kidding me? I'm going to search through 11000 results to find what she needs? And most of them were even further apart than the OP's results. Last time I searched bestbuy.com it seemed better but that was outrageous.

I've always hated how you can't sort results until you choose a category; even though 2/3rds of the time you're looking for something that's been listed across multiple categories.

The search works great for them. People end up buying all kinds of stuff they never expected to.
Amazon is a business, not a charity.

Go try making a search engine thats free and works well. See how good you do.
Google had it for a while but it got too damn expensive. Eventually they put in ads, starting taking money to put special results up top on your search, and now even sells search data to companies so they can find new ways to manipulate the consumer.
