Any of you ever play this? I have seen the Kickstarter (link below) a couple of times on Penny Arcade and it looks cool, but I'd like to get some first-hand reviews if possible. $100 (or $160 if you want all the extra maps) is kinda steep. But if it truly lives up to the "legendary" hype then I wouldn't mind plunking down the cash. And I think the T-shirts look damn cool.

For background, I am a casual board gamer... I own Catan, Ticket to Ride, and Carcassone. Ogre looks cool, and given the drooling over this Kickstarter, I am tempted to buy it. But does it have much appeal outside of sci-fi nerds? E.g., Will my wife want to play it? (She likes Ticket to Ride because of the geography and the trains. She likes Catan because of the sheep and building little towns. I don't know if she'd be into combat and blowing stuff up.)

Bored games is what my kids call them. Games like this are very passe and will only appeal to a select crowd.

I would assume that they are going to produce the game and sell it to everybody. Kickstarter is meant to fund these projects to get them off the ground, you shouldn't have to contribute the $100 to get the game. Though I wonder what the target price of the game will be.

I know, but buying during the Kickstarter gets you all kinds of extra stuff. And I wouldn't be surprised if the retail game hits $100 or more.

i am not sure it'll be less than $100, the box is huge, it is going to weigh over 14 pounds because of the volume of stuff they are including

i bought smallworld for $50, these things are not cheap like monopoly at walmart

Even as planned right now, the game is huge. The current prototype weighs 14 pounds! There are three huge maps - one 17" x 21" Ogre map and two geomorphic two-sided G.E.V./Shockwave maps. The hexes are 1.5" across, with counters to fit. And the Ogre and building counters are 3-D models made of heavy cardstock. There are already well over 15 square feet of chipboard in this game. (Edit: Kickstarter has made the game even bigger. That's now four separate single-sided GEV-type maps, plus the original Ogre map, and several more sheets of counters and overlays. We're at about 20 square feet EACH of maps and counters/overlays.)

We couldn’t sell this for $100 if it weren’t for the cash that Munchkin has brought in (thank you, Munchkin). But it’s something I want to do.

they are going to sell it through http://www.warehouse23.com/ but i don't think they have pricing set yet

13 hours left, they are up to $813k , i guess that is a record for KS for a Board/Card Game Funding
4985 backers, they'll definitely get over 5k
