Well, It's kind of hard to know exactly what happened over the past couple of days since the Stats were out of whack for 2 days in a row. All I can tell you is where we ended up on the 24th.

/. took 1st place with 234.344 Tnodes for the day. Man, I don't know where they got that output from, but that is one of the best days we have seen from /. yet. In fact, if you check out the tracking graph here you will see that this is the best output they have had in about a month.

TA came in 2nd for the 24th with 137.585 Tnodes counted. If you look at the total node count for the 21st and then the 24th, you will see that we only turned in, on average, 135.516 Tnodes per day. I got this average by subtracting the 21st from the 24th and then dividing by 3. We need to do better than this. Slashdot is consistantly over the 150 Tnode mark each day. Currently the deficit with Slashdot sits at 1108.462 Tnodes.

The Amiga RC5 Team effort came in 3rd for the 24th with 74.570 Tnodes.

The Wonder Monkeys took 11th with 41.811 Tnodes.

DPC ended up in 13th for the day with 37.281 Tnodes.

Milestone Makers

TMR passed the 50 Tnode mark!!!!

chrishu11 passed the 25 Tnode mark!!!

jcook passed the 25 Tnode mark!!!

Honestly, I am a little disappointed in the numbers that we see today and the number that we can put together about the last 2 days without stats. I know that personally, I have added more than 8 Ghz to my herd in the past week. I also know that we had several people shift machines over to the OGR effort from Thunder's thread for assistance. So where is the output????? We should be going thru the roof and we are just ambling along with our normal output!!!! Am I the only one who finds this confusing?? Either way, it looks like we need to get out there and assimilate more machines before it is too late!! I am tired of having to report /. in the 1st place.

Check out the tracking graphs here

Take care,

-Mike

I too am confused about the numbers. Everyone dumped 125.87 T-nodes through Mika's on the 24th but we ended up with 137T-nodes through D.net? That seems low compared to previous numbers dumped through Mika's...? Unless everyone switched to Mika's, then I'm not sure what is happening...especially for the 24th! Correct me if I'm wrong...I'm still sorta new to OGR!

There might be a few explanations:

# The stats are not accurate. We are also below our average with the RC5 competition (about 150k) :(
# People have a buffer of about 10 OGR-stubs and working on it (I'm one for example). It takes a few days before even one stub is done. :p In a few days, the reassignments should be visible.
# A number of members have reassigned computers to the GammaFlux project to stay No. 1. I see a gigantic increase in WU's done on a daily average (from ~6000 to ~35000). :p

Don't know if it is true, but it is all I can come up with. :p

Thanks for the update Mike. Does /. have any kind of message board? I was unable to find one, and was curious to see what they're up to.

Well, one other factor was that we were apparently missing one of our heaviest hitters yesterday. Ducky didn't dump anything yesterday. Don't know what is going on there.

Hopefully things will shake out tomorrow or Monday. I guess what really threw me for a loop was the fact that our numbers were so high going through Mika's yesterday. Mika's usually accounts for about 1/2 of our output for the day. So with 125Tnodes, I was expecting in the neighborhood of 200+ at Dnet. Guess that just isn't the case.

My herd (part of giantnt4vizmechthunderstorm)

11 PIII800
3 PIII500
1 PIII933
1 PPro 200
1 Celery 700
1 PII450
1 PII266

PeterN has already explained one reason as to why block submission is not there (in my case): Clearing a large buffer of OGR blocks, which have been flushed now.

On a different note, I believe that it is do or die time of OGR and that this other than RC5, is the only thing we could possibly stay first in the stats in.

As far as I am concerned it is make your mind up time people.

TA are not gonna keep the lead in Gamma Flux - I have no doubt that the ProcessTree team will overtake us before christmas and more importantly, we will have no comeback.

This leaves just OGR as the only other contest we can possibly win other than RC5 (sorry, but SETI is also out of reach).

VSS,

I'm not so sure about Team ProcessTree overtaking us in the GammaFlux competition before Xmas.
If we can keep this rate of produce, then they will have to run very hard to pass us.

If you take a look at our daily stats right now, we have two and a half times the amount of Team ProcessTree.

This team has shown some high growth rates, but that seems to be past tense. Also DCypher is going to start with payed jobs very soon. This will draw a significant number of members of the GF-project, since most of their membership is opting for this kind of DC-jobs. Otherwise they won't have become member of ProcessTree.

From Decibels' plan:

:: 25-Nov-2000 06:45 (Saturday) ::
OGR stats are up-to-date again, though team ranking is wonky for OGR-25...
I'll fix that later tonight. RC5 is currently running.

:: 25-Nov-2000 03:02 (Saturday) ::
There was a problem with one of the logfiles a few days ago which caused
more problems with stats than I had originally thought. The OGR stats are
catching up, which should take an hour or so. Once that's done, I'll start
the RC5 run. Sorry for the delay.

Looks like things could change around a little bit. Wonder exactly what "wonky" means?????

Not that I know of. They have SlashNet, the Slashdot IRC network, but other than that there's no real "general" forum of any sort for the /. RC5 effort that I've ever seen. They're just one huge random mass of crackers. Perhaps they have one on Everything2.com, but it's doubtful (Everything2 is a side project of some of the /. developers, but it's not a forum per se).
