He was on his own driveway washing his car and was shot?

Just see how much hatred Trump already bring to us since he runs for POTUS.
 
Oh, it's OK. Anarchists at some Trump rallies were really mean to a handful of Trump-supporting snowflakes.

My guess is that it was not a hate crime but eco-terrorism that also contained race-based comments. Many places in Washington are very vigilant about residents washing their cars in their driveways as the storm sewers drain directly into lakes. If you do not use soap that is fish and wildlife safe, you are damaging the environment.

Obviously that isn't a reason to shoot anybody.

Even if the Sikh man dumps auto oil into the sewage, not just washing car using non eco friendly soap, the gunman should have report it, instead bring a gun with him and shoot the guy.

It's hard to believe it's not a hate crime if the gunman yelled "go back to your country".

This is an atrocious and inhumane act which cannot be justified by any measure, nor should such justification even be joked about.

The path to limiting this behavior is in demonstrating our disgust at the action. No amount of anger or forcible punishment will be an effective deterrent. Even racist bigots struggle to maintain an attitude of righteousness when met with a display of genuine horror from their peers.

We should not normalize or joke about the taking of human life.

I think a crime turning racial might be separate from a hate crime. Potentially.

And I agree with your point. I personally wouldn't have accosted him in a manner even if he was illegally dumping in any way that could have turned violent. And I doubt the victim was belligerent in his response to the shooter.

It is still unclear if he was an eco-terrorists / radical environmentalist, or a member of the racial based hate group. I am not educated enough to eliminate the possibilities absent any evidence though. I leave that to the smart people.

This happened in Washington, where street and driveway car washing is SEVERELY frowned upon.

edit: it could have escalated to a "go back to your country" because, it's possible he did recognize him as an Indian, and well, water pollution in India is pretty bad....

Eco-terrorism / radical environmentalism are not people who damage the environment, but people who resort to violence to protect it.

Somebody shooting somebody over storm sewer runoff and telling them to go back to their country which ranks among the highest for water pollution would be an example of an eco-terrorist.
